I\'m looking to upgrade to a single turbo setup on my RX but could do with some advice as to what to look for when i\'m buying one.
I understand that the compresser is the cold side and i should be looking at a min a/r of 0.60 and the turbine is the hotside which i need somewhere around 0.96! does this sound right?
What about the housing and the inlet? I was looking at a GT35R Which said it had a T04 Housing and a T3 inlet. Would this be right? If not what do i need to look for?
Any help will be mutch appreciated

You def want a T4/T04 flange, this is the shape and size of the aperture where the turbo bolts onto the exhasust looks like this, can either have divided or undivided housing

The GT35R is a kick ass piece of kit, pretty much the ultimate turbo for an unported - extended street ported engine

the smaller the hotside eg 0.84, the quicker spool up but less top end power, the bigger the hotside A/R eg 1.15, the slower spool but more potential for big boost through the rervs

speak to clive at shy/mazdarotaryparts he does a nice 35/40 the smaller hotside might be ok on a standard engine but might struggle to get the gases out on a ported engine .70 cold side is normal choice and 1.06 on the hot side seems to be a good compromise between power and spool up..

Thanks for the advice guys! So i defo want a T4 flange for the turbo bolting to the exhaust! How about the exit from the turbo for the downpipe? Whats the norm?

VBand clamp is the must currently

First things first what do you want your car to be fast road car, trackday car, drag car or a combination. Sit down think about what you want then make a decision to suit. If you tell us just what type of car your after and realistic power goals. Plus is the engine ported what fueling etc. Then we can give more informed advice.

going for a fast road setup. Thats why i decided on gt35r! does that sound like a good choice. engine is stock but looks like i tneeds rebuilding so was thinking of goin for extended street port with 1600 secondaries.

For a fast road then the gt35 is about the ultimate at the moment. Clive does a full bolt on kit manifold, turbo, wastegate, pipes everything down to the last nut and bolt. If you fancy putting it on yourself and saving some labour charges.

Rite so i\'m defo goin for a gt35/40 then!
The one i\'m looking at has a T4 exhaust housing with a 1.06a/r and a 3" v band outlet, the compresser housing has a 0.70 a/r.
Hopefully this should give reasonably fast spool up with the scope for plenty of power!
