Guys I need your wisdom..........

I\'ve just snapped a stud in the turbo pack (a  down pipe stud)!!!!
It\'s broken flush to the gasket face!!
How the **** can I a)get at it  & b)get it out????

Please don\'t say it\'s enging out, as I have just put the gearbox & everything back on to it & if the engine comes out I\'m going to start doing expensive things to it that I can\'t afford..... but I will because I\'m a little pi55ed off!!!!

HELP ME PLEASE I\'M ANOYED, UPSET, & WANT TO HIT THINGS UNTIL EATHER IT BRAKES OR I BRAKE!!!!!!!

If you can get to it and have a welder then weld a nut to whats left of the stud on the inside of the nut where the threads are while its still warm unscrew it. Failing that you will probably need a cobolt drill drill the center of the stud out then use a easyout.

But it\'s all still in the engine bay!!! Is there enough room for this???
It\'s the top front stud!!

You can get 90deg drill adapters if the room is tight then use an extracter.

Very hard to drill out as the bolts are stainless, hence the need for cobalt, but start off with a pretty small drill, and be patient, then work up gradually to bigger ones.
Might be better to take the engine out to do the job.

There are many FD\'s running around on three studs because of this!
The only real way of seeing to drill these out is remove the turbo pack.

There is one other way but you will need to know what you are doing,
using a No 10 nozzle oxy-acetylene flame heat the cast iron around the stud and unscrew the broken bit, that\'s the only "easy" way, sorry.
All the best Clive
