Can anyone help
just changed the old induction to apexi\'s and hand pipes all the way - what a difference!
BUT
the turbos howl at cruising - not foot down when they whine and breath just fine but am worried might damage them in the long run (and force me to go single!)

whats the "howling like"

normal suction type noise or "screeching type" I had a T3 turbo once that made a horrendous noise, turned out it had screwed bearings and the shaft had become unbalance leading to compressors touching ths housing. Thus causing the awful noise.

i had a vw passat 20v turbo 1.8 petrol , turbo howlwd on that. turned out the oil pump was on its way out and wasn`t pumping oil to turbo. fried bearings
if i had 8 hour to cut down a tree. i`d spend 6 sharpening the axe

none of this sounds very promising ... but thanks for the info

the howling sounds like someone blowing over a very large, and loud, bottle - there is no grinding to it and directly you spool up the turbo properly everyone sound sweet - no screetching or anything. i haven\'t touched the turbos themselves and thought it might just be the hardpipes but then again I can hear the turbos better so presumaby i would be able to here any problems beter too.

any ideas as to how i can work out whats wrong - other than taking the whole funking thing apart that is.

Bob

don\'t know - didn\'t notice it before the hardpipes

only happens at boosts of minus 0.2 to plus 0.2 bar - i thought it might be the wastegate

A quick test would be to unplug the air pump and drive the car. at least that would eliminate that possibility, whaen i fitted Apexi intake, i found it was the air pump mooing because it\'s not connected to the filter box,
