Hiya guys,
I am going down the well trodden path of installing aftermarket oil pressure and temp gauges, and looking at a sandwich plate. Thing is, space looks a bit tight around the oil filter, will sticking a sandwich plate in there turn changing the oil filter into a class1 PITA job? Would I be better off getting an oil filter relocation kit instead and tapping off that or would that be money better spend elsewhere.

Oh I am using these gauges

If my Engrish is correct I should be able to wire them up so they mirror the stock gauges quite nicely. Once I have got them installed I will post a pic. Could be a good option if you want to keep the interior looking as stock as possible, and don’t want to pay Defi money. So long as they are accurate of course- I will let you know about that!

thanks in advance,:WaveBye

ive been looking into this aswell but it does look pretty tight down there , hope it gets some respose as my gauge is fitted but remains useless till i get the sender fitted aswell !!

i have a plate for my omori gauge. it does make changing the filter a pain - you need to remove the throttle elbow and intake pipe, plus the throttle body (if that\'s what it\'s called!?) that attaches to the plenum.

only a few screws and bolts though-5min job once you have done it a few times.

I have a greddy plate and have no problems changing the filter.

I\'ve got a plate upstairs that I got from america, going to be putting it on this weekend, but it seems like I\'ll have more than enough clearance to do an oil chainge....... it\'s an @rse of a job anyway so it cant make it much more difficult!!!!

ug, it sounds like it may have to be a relocation kit then. will have a dig round t\'internet and phone a few vendors to see what options i have and how much it is going to hurt. will let those interested know what i come up with.

alrighty then.

D king, sandwich plates can fit. I usec one of those generic blue ones that are being sold everywhere, used and M20 one and it fits fine.

I am having trouble with my presure and boost gauges. pressure is giving a constant reading (no matter what the engine does) and then moves to another level after a few mins. My guess is maybe faulty sender, but anyone got any other ideas? earthing? interference?
as for the boost gauge, it reads fine right whilst in a vacuum, but wont read any positive boost. i have taken the reading off the plenum straight into the sender- is that correct? if so WTF have i done wrong?

whilst wirng the gauges up i found out the alarm must have been fitted by someone with spurs and a 10 gallon hat, as the wiring was everywhere, with control modules zip tied onto dangling looms under the dash. :2Confused so have spent the past few days trying to tidy up all the wiring. to get all that done and then find the gauges arent working has sent me threaders, so any advice, counciling, offer of a cup of tea and some biscuits will be greatly appriciated! HELP!

Adrian

p.s. will post up some pics of the gauges once i work out how to post pics!

marco

right lets see if this works.
I have tried to get a stock/factory look for installing the gauges, let me know how well you think i have achieved this. The stainless nuts are a temporary measure whilst i try to sort out the gauges, will be replaced with some black dome/countersunk bolts once i know they are working ok. If i were to do it again (i hope not too!!!) i would try to work out a way so i didnt need any bolts at all, but nevermind.
Anyway let me know what you think. (this post is just going to make me look stupid if the image doesnt appear isnt it!):Hammer

sorry buddy, I took my chances with a sandwich plate and it paid off, so dont have need for a relocation plate. however if you could promise me it would make the gauges work I would be tempted!

i dont see why they wouldnt bud..

well i see it as three options.
1. senders are faulty
2. gauges are rubbish
3. i made a mistake in installing them.

likelyhood is 3

its boost that is getting me though, it works fine showing a vacuum, but doesnt register any positive boost. its almost like the sender can only read vacuum.
