Just had new veilside d1 bumper fitted.

Looks great but realised the blitz exhaust touches the bumper at the side. Should I be very worried? I know exhaust gets hot...but dunno if it\'ll melt bumper.

Advice would be appreciated. Don\'t have time to take it to bodyshop and need to do a motorway run this weekend first :(

Fish

Nah dont worry, the bumper will just melt away. ;)

You would really need to take it to an exhaust place to get them to re-hang it.

As a temporary why not wrap the offending part with something heatproof? lets hope it dont rattle eh!

good idea thnaks. Looks around at kitchen foil :Hammer

Unsure where to buy such stuff so short notice with no garages near my work.

Hmmm...

I cut away my bumper :) But it was only that black part at the bottom.

do you have a plumbers merchant nearby? they can sell you a heat proof mat [they use it for souldering:2eek ] cost would be less than a tenner!

Just stand on the Tail pipe :)

You\'ll just bend it down a bit, don\'t go driving too far like that there is no point in Damaging the Bumper for the hell of it.

Grizzly

Check all the mounts are in place too, often if a center one comes loose it will touch (well it does in my world ;) LOL)

dreamers

Thanks for your suggestions.

Hmmm... is a big risk in damaging it i guess. I will try and get it seen to - though I dont know how easy that\'ll b.

try putting a tie wrap around the exhaust rubber on the oppisate side to where it touching the bumper and tighten it up , mite just give you a bit of clearance your looking for as a temp fix ??

Thanks for all your responses. Had a good look this morning, its not actually touching but about 1cm away. Looks as though it is due to shadows and stuff.

Should make the trip and i\'ll get it sorted when i get there.

Thanks for your help though. D king the spoiler on your car looks the business!

mine must have been well loose cos its melted through the lower valance and then a little into the bumper its self. ive tightened it up now so it looks like i have sorted the problem.
