Quote from: antnicukI thought the RAC wernt allowed to remove anyone from the ring either?, i thought it was only their own recognised recovery people?

You are right it is only 1 of 2 firms that can pull you off....but the AA wont take you back to the UK if the accident occured on the Ring...where as the RAC will :)

RobbieRX-7

And what sort of cost will this rac cover cost? I presume if you break down you have to wait for a recovery truck from the uk to bring you back or is rac an international company?

antnicuk

oh,  that makes more sense, i didnt know the aa wouldnt bring you home if you crashed on the ring.  I will look into that.

I have just booked my ferry for that weekend (going with another group) and it was £40.   I paid £123 for the tunnel same time last year.

A break will be nice as its a bit full on and although you know you can stop you dont!

Ok,

Me and my friends are getting together tonight for sure and sitting down and sorting out all of this. We may have up to 10 cars coming (10 CARS) so we need to get everyone in agreement over dates.

After that i will confirm with you guys. We are still deffo leaving on the thursday but may now be returning on the tuesday rather than the Monday. I will let you all know.

Atomicrex - how many places does this hotel have?! Its going to need a few :)

t2rew

as i said, me trex antnicuk and a few others are already going on the 8am ferry. maybe we can meet a few people there to join our convoy. its going to be a mixed bag of motors and hopfully this year we can keep the pace down to save some fuel. (im skint)

as for recovery i am going to join the ADAC this year. its cheaper to join this for the year than get cover from the rac for 4 days :2eek

Ive enquired about train prices for a group of 10 cars as a baseline, awaiting response.

If im to book this ive a feeling that i will need to have you lot paypal me the train costs before i book it.  I will enquire about separate bookings and payments, but last time they asked all the card holders to be there at the time.  I will still take all of your numbers and addresses just so i can give them to the train people when i book it if they do allow me to book a space for you pending your payment.

IF YOU WANT TO GET THE TRAIN WITH THE ABOVE GROUP, I WILL NEED YOU TO CONTACT ME EITHER AT CARL.NEWTON@INTACT-IS.COM OR BY PM WITH YOUR PHONE NUMBER, NAME AND ADDRESS.

I will let you know later on if i need you to paypal me, and if so how much.  Just for your personal safety reasons i will pm you my full address and all contact details if i do ask you to paypal me the funds for the train.

Cheers guys, its getting close to booking time so just remember if i dont have your details pretty soon then you will have to book your own train separate from ours

Carl i sent you a pm about payment for the train. Do you get charged per car or per person? Im gonna try and get the payment sent to you tonight. Gotta pay my mates pug 309 too so that will be £250??

AtomicRex

Ive tried calling my person at the Ring....and I dont think they are back yet.  MOst of the places are actually shut as its probably under a couple of feet of snow!!!

Will keep trying as Im planning to take the Atom over in April :D

what is everyone doing for recovery and insurance?:3Confused
Judging by this thread, everyone has been before, so what did you all do last time you went?, would you change anything this time round regarding insurance/breakdown? I\'ve visited that ADAC page and there seems to be a lot of different options. Which option would be best?

antnicuk

more info on this would be good as last year i arranged with the AA for Euro cover but from the above it would be of no use if i crashed on the ring.  I dont see what they could say if i broke down in the car park though!!

I also just arranged a \'green card\' with my car insurance.

Bobfish

the £125 is PER CAR - IT DOES NOT MATTER HOW MANY PEOPLE YOU HAVE.

So yes, £250 for you mate.

I will need your name, address, phone number, and car reg, make, model and colour.

Thanks

Carl

Bobfish

P.s, i used AA last year - not sure on recovery from the track though. You cant get the AA to just come over and recover you from the middle of the nurburgring im sure....

AtomicRex

You dont get the AA to come from Dover all the way over to Germany either ;)

The problem is is that you get someone from ADAC that lifts you from the Ring.......they then speak to the AA to transport you back to the UK and the AA refuse to cover the costs.

Look at Nurburgring.org and I think you will find out a bit more there.

ADAC do offer a full service...and its cheaper than the RAC
