i think you have looked at the uk rx7 spec, they are a bit slower than a jap import arent they???

Jono FD3

Prety sure the 92-96 cars were all 250ish as mine\'s an import 92 and was dynoed at 260 with incuction & exhaust!!

my last car was an E36 M3, It was a great car but it\'s a mini tourer - it\'s not as involving as the RX, which is a proper sports car. there\'s no four door diesel version of an RX-7. There\'s much better feeling from the res, the suspension\'s better and the brakes are better, although the M3 was far from mediocre in those departments.

Can\'t really compare the acceleration as I brought mine in straight from Japan and i need to get it mapped, so I\'m just tipping around at the minute.

If you get an RX, you won\'t be disappointed. If you\'re like me that is :)
and your next problem will be trying to go one better than the RX... i can see myself holding onto mine for a long time!

RobbieRX-7

255bhp 0-60 in 4.9 for a 1992 jap spec R1. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/RX7

Cheers bud, nice to get a comparison on the 2 cars! I need to get a test drive sorted in one but there is never any for sale anywhere close to me and I don\'t fancy a 250 mile round trip just to go for a drive! Once the BM is sold though then I can go hunting properly!!

RAW

and lets face it, who leaves their car standard!? a mildly modified FD will easily out perform an M3, and more importantly, will feel a lot more special. (and get a lot more attention) :cool

there are quite a few FD owners up your way-i\'m sure you can find a couple to have a ride in.

i think there is a lot of confusion about the bhp of different rx7s, with different types and different years being different bhp, i guess really its down to the individual car, i think depending on the mileage of the engine, how well it is running, how well maintained etc makes alot of different.  If a rx7 has high mileage and has been poorly maintained im sure it would lose alot of power over standard.

I think you have to base it on the individual car, they are all different and of course figures on websites and from mazda etc are always on standard cars out the box brand new.

Roughly:

UK cars 237hp
1991-1995 \'mostly\' 255hp
1996-1999 \'mostly\' 265hp
99 spec+ \'mostly\' 280hp

This is if you find a stock FD.

Just spend a bit on it Power FC,Exhaust and Filter then get it set up by a Pro, You\'ll be happy.

Just make sure you buy a good one, there getting on and alot have had a Hard life (there is a BIG diffrence)

Thank\'s for all the replies and advice guys, much appreciated. Once I get the BM MOT\'d and sold, i\'ll have a better idea of money I have to spend and the type i\'m going to get!

Oh, I\'m in Carnoustie.

This might help:

"The third RX-7 did generate some astounding numbers. Road & Track had an R1 blitzing from zero to 60 in 5.5 seconds with the quarter being consumed in 14.0 seconds at 98.5 mph. Motor Trend had it doing those same tricks in 5.3 seconds and 13.9 seconds at 99.7 mph. This was one seriously fast car."

Doh sorry you mean Mag figures, (need to read properly before Posting ;))
