Its only happened the once and I just drove home and havent used it since. I dont really want to be taking my car across the coutry on a tralior for nothing. How much would the likes of pip take to look at something like this?

Cally

So just to confirm, I should just run the car and if it happens again then look into it as happening just the once could be nothing?

andysmee

No-one on here will advise you to drive the car again without it being looked at but you probably should have another go and see if it happens again.

Was the incident straight after sitting in traffic or running particularly hot? heatsoak on a stock car can produce particularly high intake temperatures when you then boot it (that\'s the only time I have had a det light come on on mine - scary but once you understand why you should be OK)

Or was the car using the correct fuel (super/optimax/ultimate)? if it wasn\'t fill up with the good stuff straight away and take care until the tank is finished and then stick to the good stuff. If it was tuned on optimax, stick to high octane fuels.

Finally, if happens again you need to get it on the rollers. You can drive it gently without risk so no need to trailer it over to them.

Scott ,

Call Chris, you have his number. the car was mapped with Optimax, the light doe act as knock sensor, with the Apexi , ask Chris, but like everyone says each car gives different opinion and just check it out.It could be a dodgy sensor but it always better to be safe.

Cally

Whos chris? lol. I always run on Vpower so that shouldnt be a problem.

looked at mine today, when i drive down road and engine cold it flashs about five time every time i accelorate, after a while all ok. only been doing this since i put pfc and got it mapped

Ah, it all makes sense now. Will probably phone them later on see what they say. What should i ask? "Is it ok to drive?" lol

The fact that it hasnt happened before suggests you should get it checked out by some one, on the off chance that some thing is not working as it should/was. It wont have been tuned aggressively by Max (RE:Worx) so you should have plenty of safety margin - but if some thing isnt working properly...

FWIW, a lot of FDs have inherently \'high\' knock, and consistently. Knock sensors are fickle creatures, my last FD used to knock its tits off at any time; on throttle, off throttle, some times on cruise it would be like a christmas tree for 20 seconds lol - but it did 30K miles in less than a couple of years before I wrecked the car, including a good few Ring trips, hundreds of dyno runs, a lot of messing about with NOS etc etc - the car always felt strong and pulled cleanly - and I was 110% happy that Max had tuned it ok. My first FD which was stock also gave \'high\' knock on the Commander without incident.

Like I said, its worth getting checked over as its not occurred before.

Who up here (scotland) could check it out? reworx is very very far away!!

arghh this happened to me last night! was at 70 in 5th gear about 5 mins after I started it up and the heat light flashed on once. So I backed off. and drove home sad :(.

Checked the top end readings on the Apexi thing and the knock was 64! Do I need to get it checked out? oh im in scotland too and dont know anywhere up here either.

Cally

Ive heard of people going to The Garage in wishaw, but duno how much they know about em?!?

666FLO

ok I spoke to some last night about it and they said it was probablay because I have just about no fuel ( its just on the empty bit) when I put my foot on throttle its sucked in fuel air and crap out of the tank. lol I\'m not that worried about it. need to get some fuel and see if it does it again! knowing my luck it will blow up or something. :Laugh

Cally

So  would people suggest I should be ok to take the car out a test again today to see if it happens again as I havent driven it since.

cheers

rx7veilside

do not test to see if a car dets as one split second and pop goes a seal bite the bullet and arrange to visit pip and get the car checked for fuelling etc on his dyno
