hallo rotary friends,
  guests and members.

This is my first message on this really good website.
I hope, you can help me. I have a small problem.

I drive a  RX7 FD 1992
During i drive:driving, i hear now and again a very quiet squeaking noise.
It is very nerve-racking, because the car is otherwise very calmly.
I cannot ascertain, where the noise comes from.:xconfused
I think it is the hood or better the hinge of the hood – but what can I do?

If somebody of you knows the identical problem.
How one can give me a healthy recipe?:Thumbs-up
  Many thanks beforehand.
and all of you the best wishes for the new year.

Have you check your boot catch?

rx7fddriver

Sorry, but what is a boot catch?

J.j.

Sorry excuse my poor english, I meant the catch for the boot :Hammer

rx7fddriver

The catch of the boot is probable not  the problem.
the sound comes from the front - wherever this may be?!
how much :guinness must i drink before i understand?:Giggle

Crazy Eddie

OK so just to clear up is the sound coming from the front of the car ie bonnet / hood?
Or the rear of the car ie Trunk / boot?
Cheers:cheers

If its the bonnet then a bit of wd40 on the hinges, open and close the bonnet work the bonnet up and down quite a few times then apply some grease. then goto the bonnet catch, if memory serves me right you can move the bonnet catch down a small bit therefore tightening the bonnet down, apply grease here as well.

Hi

Mine squeaks quite a lot from the rear hatch hinges - there was actually a recall from mazda on these and they were replaced with updated versions which squeak less (or not at all I\'d hope).

I\'ve not done anything about mine yet but will be taking a look shortly - am hoping some WD40 will shut them up for a bit until I can get the new ones from Mazda...

its your front bumper...

tighten the bolts holding it on

There is a common problem with FD\'s, the Loop on the Bonnet wears (so you\'ll see a groove) this takes the preload of the bonnet when its shut so it tends to Rattle against the Catch on the Slam Panel.

Also on my Turbo 2 i found the Bonnet Hinges tend to wear quite quick, this is easy to spot, if you get hold of the back corner of the Bonnet and lift it (while the Bonnets Shut) you will feel movement.

Have you had a look round the engine bay for Loose pipes etc? its possable some thing may have come loose?

Thank you guys for all good tips.

The first I will do is to grease all hinges and locks of the car to exclude that the noice comes from other parts as the hood.

  I take grease - not WD40 because
WD40 has already visited all hinges and locks recently - but without success.
I think the reason is WD40 is too liquid and volatilized; grease is more gelatinously and lasting.

For the moment I don´t move down the bonnet catch.
  I’m carful because
the hood is made of aluminum and bends faster than conventional hoods.

I think I’m busy for the moment.
I’ll do my work and will give you report.
If the weather is better, the battery is loading, i start the engine and let him run. yeahhhh

  So long
Tom
