Alot of the Custom Colurs are realy old, 70% of them are Solvent and where designed years ago and they just mix them together to find new colours to paint cars in. I know the Chrome paint was developed in the 80\'s to paint Plastics  for stuff like Phones etc.

Right I was looking for ideas last night and came accross TRIAL Demo Car ( Pic attached ). Gonna have a play around and see if I can do a photoshop of it on to my RX. Its the first thing that has really jumped out and screamed at me. Dont like supras but this one is SWEET.

Well i use a Sata Water base gun to put it on (Its got a big fan and it does\'nt hard line like a Devilbiss etc)

Depending on what make Chrome you use some like to be Suspended in Binder some you just put in the gun and away you go. With this sort of thing ALWAYS get a data sheet with it. I had alll sorts of problems with the Chrome at first becouse it has too be 150% dry or it will bite you in the Rear bad style, you also can\'t play with it (no tacking or nibing between coats).

I would say its defo not something to try in your garage at home (You could do small stuff but not a Car).

A lad i know has spent the last two years trying to get me to Paint his FD in Black Chrome. I would imagen it would look good but i realy don\'t like the idea.

what is that gold chrome paint in the first picture. Looks really nice.

Ive only ever seen one proper candy job on an eo that was in banzai\'s front page. Ive probably seen about 12-15 jobs and most have some element of patchyness. Its just too hard to get a perfect job.

Would seem that if you want a completly even job you need to do it in either drop coats (from far back so the paint almost falls on the car rather than sprayed at it, although this does produce a lot of waste). Or you\'d need a gun with the fan as wide as the car is high, othewise it just streaks or patches.

Right , ive got to make a decision. Ive decided on two colours both on TVR\'s. Ive attached them , let me know what you think. I shouldent have gone on the TVR website they have way to many nice colours to choose from.

Yeh it does go Patchy if you use dodgy Dye or mess up the met Base (if you use a Bright silver for example), i used to have a problem with it getting lines in and Dark edges round doors etc (thats just becouse i did\'nt apply it evenly enough)

Don\'t get me wrong candy Dye is REALY!! hard to use properly. There is a way to put it on, for a start all the Panels etc on the car, go in full lenths, try to keep it VERY!! even, Move the Gun back away from the job and put it on in lots of thin coats (easyer to build up),Dont try and paint the Door jams at the same time (you get a dark line round the edge where you duble head each coat) and most important don\'t rush it (you will be in S**t if you run it).

But i find the Multi flip colours tend to look realy dodgy close up (the hole lot, Grainy/Patchy etc) when you see alot of these "show cars" they look realy poor, allot are done for Magazines and are not suposed to be seen too close, I\'ve yet to see one of these max power cars with all the GRP kit last more than one season before the paint starts sink into all the filler on it or the Paint chips off all that Fiber glass.

Nar, I\'m a Painter and my car is Externaly Stock, Ok it may look like 100 others but i don\'t enjoy spending Hours making my car look better than it left the show room only for it to get a stone chip driving it home?? (i\'d be Gutted) My cars getting painted then its getting Driven.... HARD!!!

There is Only "Chrome" you change its colour by applying Candy Dye over it, With a bit of messing you can start doing stuff like Ghosting and effects just by masking bits up so theres diffrent amounts of dye on diffrent bits.

I have to admit the Chrome with Black dye looks well (I belive the Burnout Fd was done in it but darker)

2nd one for me, first one is a little too similar to the classic Scooby Imprezza colour!

Mims

Both those colours 1st half of car purple seconda half blue! Because there are already a few purples flying about and a couple in that blue.
