Yea heres that same car...class colour!the problem with a candy though is that you could find yourself in the same position at some point in the future,as regards to not being able to match it,i know of people who have had candy paint only to find when they want to change something on the body or even get a scratch or small repair they are looking at a full respray as nobody can match it or nobody will try.

Well im gonna have to have a bit more of a think about it. Ill have a look at the colour charts when I get bck home. Im at my parents at Inverness at the moment for Christmas. Obviously cant post many ideas from here as my big computer is back at home. Will also hopefully have photo shop to use when I get back as I think ive reached the limitations of the version of Coral draw that im using.

Pretty sure ill not be painting it in the blue if there are going to be others that colour knocking around. Also if I were to do it with the Gulf Blue with the orange stripe think it would look like a GT40 look alike.

Will post some new ideas when I get bck.

Happy Christmas :)

House of Kolor now do kandy base coats, rather than the original silver/gold etc base and then a coloured laquer! So as long as you have a good sprayer and they take note of numbers of coats and pressure they used for spraying, you should get a perfect match!

There are lots of Places that sells Candy Dye.

This is my Fav at the mo http://www.chromepaint.com/product_info.php?cPath=1&products_id=3&osCsid=05b569699ef146ccf9b73921c7498e27

I have used there Chrome paint a bit and is HARD WORK!! it goes realy Cloudy if your not carfull, but there Dyes are good. That Purple would be easy to do its just a Black Base and a Dark Purple Candy, the Trick is to do a few spray out cards forst to get your Level then paint in full lenths rather than Panels.

I\'d say don\'t put anything in the Clear as it won\'t be as deep, You should use a Binder to hold the Candy or at least flat it back and reclear.

LOL, I Use alot of candy and i bet i could\'nt match the Colour 5 minutes after its been painted :)

Its realy hard, 1psi diffrence at the Cap or the angle you hold the gun will change the colour.

The types of paint that are easy to repaint panels is stuff like Chromaflare and Multi flip bases, Candy/Glitter/Chrome are a Royal Pain in the rear to match and it would be easyer and a better job to do the lot again in alot of cases. (Thats why most Painters get paranoid about Panel beaters Building there Jobs up ;))

Is that using the Kandy base coats Chris, or using the silver/gold base and then coloured laquer!

jetpilot

Is that using the original Kandy way, silver/gold base etc then coloured laquer or the new base coats Chris?

In my eyes i would only ever go candy if i had the car garaged and only let it out on sunny weekends,i dont think i could live with it as i use the rex quite a bit and park it etc,if you paid for a nice candy paintjob and something happend stone chips...scratch...dint... etc etc then your nice paintjob goes tits up very quick, imho you looking at another respray.and like chris said you could paint the same colour 5 mins later and it would look different, even pearls are a pita to match at times.

Which one do you mean?

The Chrome Paint is a Bugger to put on, How i do it is Paint the job all Base and clear Jet Black (so its got as much depth as poss) then after thats all been cured etc apply the Chrome in light Dust coats, then Clear that. If you want is Coloured then you Apply your Candy Dye over that and clear again. Polish and thats job done.

Last one i did was a Bike and just that one job took the best part of a week to do. I havn\'t done a Full car in it (i\'ve just done sections for Graphics) but i belive its too refective so is illigal on the roads in the UK.

What we talking about? If you mean the Candy Colours you can change the Colour Dramaticly by changing the Base colour.

i.e. That Purple will be over Black (if you catch the Flip of the colour it goes Dark almost Black) you can make it go the other way by putting it over White, Solid colours give the most Dramatic effects but if you look at the colour it does\'nt look Metalic. The Problem is when you put candy over a Met Colour it takes the Shine (if you like) off the Aluminium particals (you don\'t see them as much) a trick is to Put Glitter over the Base colour then Clear it so the Met is realy Bright (that works well).

Thing is with Custom paint jobs its realy Time Consuming, In a run of the Mill bodyshop it would cost SERIOUS money.
