Every now and then i\'m getting petrol fumes inside the car.  Ive took it to 2 seperate mechanics today and neither can find any leeks.  Its been up on the ramps, had the boot stripped etc etc.

One did noticve something.  The non return flap thingy down inside where you stick the petrol in  :)   Its really loose, like the spring is either weak or given up completely.  Put it this way, you can blow down into the filler neck and you can hear it open!!  And i\'m not talking about a strong blow  ;)  I\'m not sure how strong the spring should be but being this weak it must flap open when going over bumps or around corners - possibly letting fumes out/in the car?

So can someone check to see if there\'s is that weak for me?  I\'m a bit concerned as I have the brands track day on Monday, if I have a leak I dont want to risk going, but if this is the problem it will obviously be ok.

If its someone going to Brands i\'ll owe you a drink  :guinness

I often get a whiff of fumes, I found that the firewall rubber grommit had come away slightly, I\'d have thouht you checked that anyway. I\'ll give my car a blow tomorrow and see what happens! ;)
