hi guys myself and jono have come across a bit of a problem. the local shell supplier is getting rid of  its petrol station the only local 1 to sell vpower. this has annoyed me to say the least now the car has only run on v power will i be able to run say bp ultimate with any major issues or perhaps tescos 99 as they are meant to be having it soon with us or am i looking at remapped ecu or a new apexi ecu
cheers guys

I am sure you will be fine with BP ultimate, isnt it the same rating as V Power? Also I wouldnt think there would be any problem running a higher octane fuel, someone can correct me if I am wrong though.

I\'m running on Sainsbury\'s super unleaded. When it was mapped on saturday, I got no higher knock than 31. So, i think it\'s fair to say supermarket super unleaded is fine. (Supermarkets don\'t run crappy quality fuels anymore - there\'s an article somewhere about it)

i have a standalone knightsport ecu which was in at import so i hope it can be ajusted to use other fuels

No comment on particular brands etc. (except that we RX8 owners don\'t beleive there\'s any benefit on high-octane fuel, other than emptying you wallet quicker ;-) )...

Have you tried //www.petrolprices.com - it\'ll tell you the cheapest / nearest statiosn to a postcode for a particular fuel type, and you can get the list emailed on a regular basis :)

RX8 and RX7 owners who UK cars have nothing to worry about.

I find that Tesco99 is the best fuel all round for my Rex, and the fuel at supermarkets is just as good as anywhere else.

True..I see a red FD filling up quite often at Sainsbury\'s.......;)

one of the tuning magazines ran an article recently, tested an EVO on a rolling road with various grades....all the ultimate/premium grades gave significant power increases over regular super. Tesco 99 came out well.

rx8 owners wouldn\'t notice a huge difference with various grades...rx7 turbo engines will be more sensitive (higher cylinder pressures) to octane rating.
