I am looking for somewhere that can do a compression test on my rx7 that is not too far away from where i live. does anyone know of somewhere close 2 maidstone in kent where i can go an get it tested. If so any ideas how much it will cost to have it tested an any contact numbers or discounts etc.

I am looking to have it tested as i am unaware if it has had a rebuild yet or not, it runs like it has but im no expert. I have £3000 that i wonna spend on my rx7 but do not want to spend it on mods if it needs a rebuild.

If it does not need a rebuild any reccomendations on what mods i can do for £3000 to improve performance an power etc, iv already got an induction kit an BOV\'s,  decat pipe and uprated back box, what could i do now?

cheers for your time

Hi Tapps

Not too many rx specialists near you that I\'m aware of, however, clive (shyauto) is dartford way (not sure what services he offers), carl hayward (hayward rotary) is not that far down the coast, reworx is next in portsmouth.

I would seriously take it easy with your current set-up until you get it checked out.  Reason being it seems as though you\'ve got some decent mods but haven\'t upgraded the ecu.  I would tackle this first before spending money on any other mod.  The specialists above will give you good advice as to which ecu to get.

a mate of mine has offered me a panspeed ecu an xs power intercooler from his old rx7, any good?

Panspeed is a piggy-back chipped ecu I believe, probably fixed map for jap fuel so It isn\'t really ideal.  I\'ve heard people using these without any problems (still check fueling and boost on a rr with this), however, I would spend my cash on a programable ecu like an apexi, fcon, microtech, motec as it would give you alot more flexibility as you improve other mods.

Can\'t comment on the intercooler as I never seen one, but again there are people on here using them so try a search for them, if its a good deal then i would go for the intercooler after getting an ecu.

Just thought I would link this thread for your reading with regards to the ecu;

not sure if the panspeed could be remapped with a chip reader and all that, this is just for info as I would still suggest you stay away from that ecu.

if you want a rebuild soon... buy the ecu, it will most likely kill your car.
