hi there peeps...have noticed that my air pump was making funny noises sumtimes at low revs...opend the bonnet and realised the actual cam-like thing the belt is attatched to infront of the air pump was jerking (stopping and starting)...any ideas on why this is and what need replacing??? can it cause damage???

cheers

the centre part with the triangle on is supposed to stop spinning while the outside pulley keeps spinning sometimes, is this what you mean?

Best bet is to bin the airpump altogether anyway!

yes m8, thats what i mean. but should it also make a deep whooshing noise to? car runs perfect

yeah it does make a strange noise I think. dont worry too much about it, just get rid of it, it\'s very cheap to do and you can pretty easily do it yourself.

cheers m8...but is there an advantage to removing the pump???

Be very Carfull with the Air pump, They have been known to seize up solid throwing the Belt off, The problem is then the water pump is not being turned by the engine and it will overheat.

You need to get it changed or Removed before running it. Don\'t forget if you still have the Cat fitted you need an Air pump.
