i am almost sure the problem lies with either Air bypass Valves or Charge Control Somewhere but i cant see from the coloured diagram at autosport where exactly they are located and i havent had time to hunt, only option is to work in the dark with a worklight so i wanted to know beforehand.

my main problem is that i dont have any parts to swap over and i dont know how to test what i have!

I AM GOING INSANE. sorry to sound crazy but basically i need the car day to day and it is doing about 3-5 mpg or something ridiculous and i cant find anybody near me that can help.

i will try and get up to harrow on saturday to visit one2watch who has been a great help but a lack of time coupled with the fact that i need to take my car apart and then back together to get home and the lack of parts or where to source them, i am really sobbing now.

i know there is a cooling problem perhaps with fans/relays so i\'m afraid of long journeys + i need to get the boost issue sorted.

i have no idea as to what to do + cant get toor afford a specialist!

Cheers bud  :Thumbsup!

actually tracked my boost problem down to a small 2 INCH GASH down the side of the lower intercooler pipe - but all is not completely well i suspect, boost etc is not completely consistant.

also along my journeys i went to see dom(Trex) to get a pipe and after stopping to get fuel noticed a cloud/jet of steam coming from behind the plenum! luckily it had boiled after pulling in so i hadnt lost coolant etc along the way and the buzzer hadnt activated.

im sure this was a relay/thermostat problem. more relay i think but one2watch (jit) who was with me, bypassed it. so it is on all the time.....

i want to check the valves but... 1) i can barely get them off because the pipes begin to crack if i try so i will probably try heating them if i do. i have been told to get some help with plenun removal etc which would be ok if i lived within miles of anyone with an Rex

2) all the parts - vacuume tester, check vales etc. are all miles away an hour at the least.

although its boosting and cooling the way it should at the moment i have literally become terrified of it... i love it and at times remember why i bought it but it seems as though owning a rex means for every 2 journeys theres a day under the bonnet and any part whatever it may be its either a few weeks from the states or samco or few hours drive...

SOMEONE PLEASE SLAP ME AND REMIND ME WHY I SHOULD HAVE ONE...

feel depressed with it at the moment even though its ok.

perhaps its because i dont know enough of you guys or just because i need give up.

i wanted a supra but i have inadvertantly bought a car/phenomenon which although i adore, it seems too much - every time i drive i\'m worried about using any of its power - i ask myself ; will it overheat... will i ruin the compression or stress it too much and bring on rebuild time? equivelent cars although lack the qualities of a beautiful rex hold a key part which is a good strong block and seems as though they are bulletproof 600-1600hp sups going strong whereas my 280hp rex seems only to bring issues?

:(  what do i do?

prob best thing to do is go and see your local tuner and get it checked over, i know it sounds drastic but they will be able to tell you very quickly what if anything is wrong with your car.
rotarys can be reliable but remember most or all parts on your car are around 15 years old, doesnt matter what car you drive after 15 years they start to develop problems.

dont give up bud! I felt like you before i took the plunge and sorted out the rats nest myself. I ordered new vaccum pipes, read up loads about it, then read loads more, took 3 days off work and went for it. Getting the phlenum was ok (ish) and after a few hours work, much head and arse scratching i had everything out and the rats nest was revealed. My advise is, if you can, to replace the pipes in the rats nest and check all the valves. Obviously this is a massive jobs at first glance but with hindsight it was not too bad really. Plus it gave me loads of confidence for working on the car myself. Once you get the little probs sorted you will be fine, it took me a while to get everything ok, (except my first turbo prob, but i know what is causing that and am too lazy at the mo to sort it), but now i have no hesistation when i put my foot down and i get that kick as the 2 turbos build boost and the cars roars forwards, even now after nearly 2 yrs of ownership i still grin like a goon when that happens! That to me is well worth that little hastles you get with a 15 yrs old car, well that and the look on some pompas fools face who\'s in a brand new merc and when he tries his luck against my rex\'s and i kick his ass! Love it! And the sound too! Rex\'s sound so beautiful, and don\'t forget the looks. They are seriously great looking machines! And the brakes, and the.. well you get the idea! Seriously tho, once you get some confidance working under the bonnet it\'s not too bad at all. I have even started enjoying myself under there!
:Laugh LOL

i agree! with all of it.

i just need to get some reasurance by sorting out the little bits and doing some preventative maintenance

i need reasurance that i can put my foot down and enjoy her and it wont result in 10 problems/rebuild.

i think i have 2 options;

1 - get some experienced eyes to do a full check
2 - take all pipes/rates nest/cooling system etc apart and back together!

i have done some work under there and its not depressing at all, more rewarding than anything. just stuck for time and money and the little things such as the brittle pipes etc scare me because if i break anything/find anything i either have to put it all back together or find some other means of travelling to get the parts and simply travelling in the meantime.

with no garage or secnond car its really difficult.

i think i need to go along to the pod this weekend/create a thread and try and find some more local guys to organise a meet and get some much needed advice...

i appreciate your thoughts anyway, an hopefully i\'ll learn some more about it and enjoy it more - after all i do adore it

what would you guys suggest in terms of main things to alter/replace etc so that i can enjoy the stock power without any problems.

also, if i were to do the nest what parts etc would i need and how would i go about it - i\'ve read the guides but i mean - uk suppliers of parts needed + how do i get pipes etc off without breaking more? *(i replaced one check valve but managed to break both ends of it and crack the pipe because they were too brittle)

thanks again
