It\'s true though. Don\'t put a loud exhaust on a rotary twin turbo sports car if you are worried about the neighbours ;)

You could just pootle a small way down the road away from your house if you think you\'re disturbing them.

Thats all very well unless you brought the car with it on as I did, and its not just about the neighbours. IMHO and each unto there own. A really loud exhaust detracts from the fun of the car for me. I don\'t want to put my right foot down as much as I would like to, through fear of letting the old bill know I am coming from a mile away, and feel like a bit of a tit with an exhaust that is totally over the top.

I brought the car for its looks, performance, handling and breaks not because it sounds like a nova with a straight through exhaust. Like I say each unto there own, but I am getting old these days and perhaps I am just showing my age.:(

Back on topic - I was convinced 2K at cold was a little high, and managed to lower it by adjusting the screw thats under the throttle body near where the TPS is. It only needed a 1/4 turn to take it down to 1400rpm.

Read my post above, I can\'t believe Mazda would have had it come off the production line like this. Things change, wear and move over the years which I think is the case here.

IMHO idling at 1000rpm from stone cold would be a alot better than 2K, reving an engine whilst stone cold is NOT good, and anyone that thinks idling at 2K is better than 1K should really shouldn\'t bother posting. As for noise I am guessing you are probably one of those people that I have placed in the catagory mentioned above.:flamed

Quote from: 666FLOMine idles at 1203 when cold and 800 when warmed up :) hope thats sounds alright. lol.

More like I would have expected, and led me to look further - Thanks

From stone cold mine idles at about 1600 dropping to 1200 & about 800 when warm.

The US models have an accelerated warm up system (AWS) on them when you start them cold the they idle at 3K straight away

Not 100% but I think you can alter the cold idle speed in the apexi , have a chat with one of the tuners they\'ll be able to tell you

I\'m thinking I may have to put a silenced mid pipe on mine , it was loud when I got it , then I put a un silenced mid pipe on and obviously that made it louder , now the engines been ported it\'s even bloody louder , after the engines been run in and I can drive at full revs I\'m thinking it\'s just gonna be too loud

Finally tuned - 317.3rwhp :burnout (thats 374.4fwhp for those who like bigger numbers)

Accelerated warm up was put on by mazda to increase engine life. They new everyone wasnt going to wait for it to warm up. so they tried to speed the process up. no harm is done at 2000 when cold, Harm is done at 5000 when cold.

Tintin

They also put double throttle on to stop it engine being reved high when cold
