Tell us more Hound Dog - did you just purchase?  where from?  did you get it checked out first? etc.?
Thanks,

clive

Real Sad for you.

As Glenn says tell us more so we can possibly help if we can.

If it\'s a hose split etc chances are the previous owner wouldn\'t have know but however if you have an internal water engine seal gone these tend not to just happen, they tend to develop slowly and then turn into what you have witnessed.
All the best Clive

re the coolant, it sounds like you filled it up from the overflow bottle which would just pour it straight onto the floor.  Dont worry we all started doing it that way ;)

You need to fill it from the metle cap further back, and though it says dont remove it might help to open the AST and topping it up there too.

Sorry to hear about the rest though, it does sound like you have  cooling problem for it to overheat.

errr yeah - i did the same !

so makes sure you are putting the water ( and antifreeze ) in the correct place , and make sure all your caps are tight ( on the 2nd gens - my mate had a problem with a bad pressure cap - he changed that and all was well )

when this happened there was a hose that came of belive it to be a breather hose was on the cap that says donot remove and there was fluid all over the right hand side as you look at the engine face on , the garage are going to sort it no probs spoke to them today , think they spoke to someone for advice think they said something about sequancing and that pressure can build up and blow the two hoses but i may have heard wrong . any thoughts ?

The hose you mention runs from your AST (air separator tank) to your expansion tank under your headlight.

On occasion, this can blow off if the hose becomes blocked.

Take the end of tube off the AST end (by the battery) and blow real hard through it. You should hear the expansion tank bubbling. If not, tube is blocked.

If tube is not blocked then this is a symptom of bigger problems :(
