hi guys n girls,

I`m going to have a look at this RX7 tomorrow, with the intention of buying it..but I just wanted to know if anybody recognises this car and can vouch for its history etc, or has anyone ever heard of the garage who did the rebuild?

A&A Motors of Worksop.

Are they recognised rotory specialists?

Also, a quick what to look out for would be nice too? :chat

this is the car:

It\'s difficult mate, the seller has pretty good feedback, but ideally you need some proof of a rebuild. he says it\'s been stripped and new parts fitted, which makes you wonder why! if it was stripped because it was getting low on compresion,(poor starting/running! new Apex seals is good, but a rebuild done properly if say the engine had overheated through failed water seal it could well of needed new housings and plates too,  and bearings, oil seals etc etc. that is quite a high mileage, check how it starts, hot and cold if poss, a compression check would be good and give a good indication of true condition, the trouble can be when you see an RX7 it\'s easy to get carried away and let your heart rule. best take your time and go over the whole car if you can, without being rushed, the seller is a trader. and makes it clear Sold as seen, if you get a drive in it and a beeper goes off (low coolant) best think again, good luck at least you\'ll get to see one close up,
Bob

thanks for the advice mate, its been noted...i`ll bear what you have said in mind :)
I did call and ask, and he said he had all the receipts etc of the rebuild, I take it if it starts hot and cold fine, no beepers go off, there is no smoke, and it drives fine...then its safe to say the engine is "ok"?

It does look like a good example, does anybody know just by looking which model it is?

Not necessarily mate, you need to do a compression test to be more certain of the condition of the engine.

To be perfectly honest with you I would be very sceptical about the rebuild the bit about the \'rebuild\' costing £1400 stinks - for a garage to pull the engine and replace it you are looking at a MINIMUM of £600, gaskets, seals, tips ect are at least £800 that is without replacing any of the major parts or allowing for any garage profit, sounds iffy to me, car looks clean enough, the garage mentioned is not a \'known\' rotary specialist, 1st thing I would do is get a propper compression test done by a reputable rotary specialist [you could do a deal with the seller to include this cost in the purchase SUBJECT to all being satisafactory] I dont know what the sale price for this car is but, there are plenty of very good, well looked after cars on this site, might pay to have a bit of a look around. I`m sure it does perform, but i`m not wanting an out and out race car RX7, just a nice example of one I can use everyday.

Sorry if I said anything out of turn but it was my opinion, :Viking

Trev i know it wasn\'t in tip top condition at the show but ALL the body work would be sorted, before you took the car away to A1 spec and it\'s just had a recent rebuild, and it\'s a BIG single turbo, and well worth the money???

You can ask any one on the forum what a great car is....

And if you read the last page of my for sale post, you would see its actually £9.5K ono because you\'re a registered MRC user
