Hi all,

Been having more of a tidy up and so took the RX out for a run to check everything over. All looks good so far to me :D

But there\'s a couple of things:

First, I start it up from cold, fires straight up then idles fast at about 1800 - 2000 rpm, all good it seems, then when I put it into reverse the revs drop off to about 1200... Is this normal?

Also there\'s a little box with "Sports Wiring" & IPF or something near the pasengers side headlight, it\'s got a bracket but isn\'t bolted to anything... Loads of wires going into it as well... is this normal? (again, sounds like an agony aunt column) and where should it bolt onto? And what does it do???

TIA!
Mark

Here\'s a pic of the funny "Sports Wiring" thingy??? Any ideas?

P.S. Engine does need a good clean!

Hi Mark.

From a very brief google search the IPF box seems to be something to do with special bulbs. More than that I can\'t really tell you.

Does your idle drop-off problem happen if you put the car into any gear other than reverse?
Is it hard to get into gear?
Does it come back up again when you take it out of gear?

RemarkLima

Hmmm, wonder what the bulbs are about then? They don\'t seem like anything special...

The idle drop off is any gear... The clutch is pretty high, still has plenty of bite but is far from new ;) It is a bit tricky to get into gear, especially when the \'box oil is cold, once it\'s started to warm up a little it\'s much easier. Hence why I\'m looking to get some fresh \'box oil ASAP!

Do you think it could be the clutch biting? I guess I should try and bleed the clutch hydraulics too do you think?

I\'m afraid it sounds like your pressure plate has seen better days, your master cylinder is on it\'s way out, it needs bleeding, or the release collar is not engaging properly.
Most likely to be bleeing or pressure plate problems imho.
Let\'s hope it just needs bleeding!

There is a little bit of info on th IPF. Looks like some kind of remote driving lamp.

Well, I try a bleed... Nothing too hard to do about it so always well worth while. May do the brakes when I get a mo as well... Don\'t they share the same reservoir on these?

Otherwise it\'s new clutch time I guess, think I\'ll get someone else to do that ;)

Cheers for the link, I\'ve had a bit of a google as well, seems to be something to do with lights, I\'ll find somewhere to bolt it down to me thinks. Also I\'ll have a play with the switches... There\'s the rear demister button, the front fogs button, then an extra one in the middle of the two... I wonder what it does?

They do share the same reserviour. I\'ve just done mine - an Easy-bleed was well worth it! To get all the old fluid out I resorted to emptying every brake line and the clutch, then filling with fluid and starting from fresh.
Good luck  :Thumbs-up

RemarkLima

Yeah, easy-bleed\'s are great! Saves all the shouting and swearing at the person pumping the brakes ;)

Cheers for the help!

No sleek lights... Not sure about the over boost button, I\'ll have to get a boost gauge fitted and check it out really. Plus I\'ll need to check the ECU... Looking at getting a Power FC anyway.

Do youthink it may have used to have sleek lights? Or maybe uprated bulbs?
