Ahhhhhh Ye ol poor mans approach, as its known, check http://www.robrobinette.com/how_to_engine.htm there is a breakdown from Dave Liberman but it depends on how well you know the systems as to how helpful you find it.

I think I\'ve mentioned this before but I performed the permenant conv on my FD with a pair of twins I bought from Dragon, mainly because I could mod the wastegate, but this does mean I know nothing about how the poormans boost creep issues, but I loved it and after a few weeks I took the FD off the road and started the build for the single, if you like boost, you\'ll love the NS conv.

If anyone is looking to do this conv with the 1.25" wastegate and welded flap etc etc etc then mines boxed up under my bed doing nothing, so welcome to offers.

I\'ve done the poorman conversion, and I wrote a fair bit about it I believe. Basically it\'s not as fast around town. But fuel ecomony is vastly improved, it\'s quite a lot louder, but you don\'t get "the kick" until around 4k, maybe a touch earlier.

I think there\'s a great writeup, with pictures on no-pistons.com ... that\'s what I followed, and it took me about 2 hours or so, and I\'m pretty novice at these things.

Good luck!

Do you have a link or anything?

Mr_7

what are the advantages of running this sytem i to would be interested in the poor mans version lol untill i get enough to go single

Rixio

Less boost problems, higher fuel economy, not as erratic, neater engine bay, quicker response, and higher top end...There may be more but thats what most people say...it just works as a single really so its the logical next step up :)

Mr_7

defintitly up for that then, i wanna go single but cost is crazy so saving to do it properly. do you loose the torque line but having it non seq.? and also do you need it mapped

Rixio

If standard ECU i dont think it needs mapping because fueling would still be the same, you\'d just get hardcore lag...

With aftermarket ecu then yes it does need mapping. Not sure on the torque front havnt really driven non-seq...tbh when i do it im gona get it mapped and dyno\'d so i can compare charts. I dont think anybody has done a before & after yet...:)
