I\'m considering a catback Mongoose exhaust for the FD, the main reason for this I\'m after a reasonably quiet aftermarket system. I have one on the FTO and I find it a good compromise - its quiet at low revs but comes to life when you give it some stick. How does the Mongoose compare on a rotary, specifically the FD?

I believe a guy on here called LRP has one.

I\'ve got one. I only got it cos it was cheap though!

I think it\'s alright to be honest. Um I don\'t really have anything to compare it to though. It\'s kinda loud I guess, but I don\'t get too many complaints.

The only thing to watch is the fact that it uses a body band around the backbox that goes into the rear mounts. I\'ve had this snap on mine. So at the time of ordering you might want to see if you can get a spare one (think they are about £25).

Gonzoninja, in terms of loudness, how would you compare it to standard i.e. twice as loud? Any idea how it compares performance wise?

I\'ve never had a standard exhaust. I had a large bore JASMA one, which the tail-pipe is fractionally smaller than, and it is the same kinda noise as that.

I don\'t think it is too loud, but I\'m still running the cat, so that may quieten it a bit.

I did notice it felt better on acceleration than the old exhaust, but thats because my old exhaust has a hole in it.

I may be able to get a video of it later so you can hear it!!!

That would be cool :cool

Here they are. First one is it idling, second one is me reving it a bit.

they are about 3 or 4mbs so may take some time to load.

It actually doesn\'t sound too loud at all (which is good thing as far as I\'m concerned!)

Thanks for taking the trouble to get the camera out :Thumbsup!

CJ, you need to turn up the volume on your PC, lol.

Hmm, I know someone with one and it is incredibly loud without the cat in it.

Makes mine seem silent in comparison !!

Maybe, the laptop speakers aren\'t up to much tbh ;)

Hmm, I\'m confused now! Gmogle, what exhaust do you have?

All I\'m really looking for is an aftermarket system that increases flow and removes some of the restrictiveness of the standard system without being overly loud, a difficult compromise to reach but obviously some systems have got to be quieter than others?

No idea mate, its an aftermarket one but no logos on.

Isnt the Racing Beat one supposed to be quieter ? I know someone with a twin pipe and thats pretty quiet until you open it up. They do a single version to I believe.

Yeah, I was searching around the forum and folks were recommending Racing Beat in terms of noise\\performance compromise. Anyone know a supplier?

Possible group buy on an SRB exhaust system over on fd:uk and they\'re very good and very quiet apparently. Hopefully getting a full 3" system including downpipe if I can get the money beforehand :)
