Done a search but still unsure, do I just buy an mx-5 din plate and it will fit the rex? Fed up of radio 2!!:Snoring

Cally

anyone fitted a single din stereo? How did you do it?

Hi Cally,

Personally, when I removed my Japanese Pioneer double din unit, I replaced it with 2 single din cages. I put my head unit in the top one and made 2 small brackets for the lower one, to which I attached an aluminium blanking plate that I fabricated (I covered it with the Carbon Fibre film to finish it off).

I was happy with the result and it allows me to add switches or maybe a couple of guages in the future.

No pics at the moment but I\'ll try to sort some out if you want to take a look?

Dan.

Cally

Yeah that would be good. Thanks.

Was kindo hoping there was a part i could buy (I am a bit lazy at times) but if i have to make something, so be it.

It looks like some peeps are using the MX5 part, have a search for \'single din\' it\'ll show you routes others have taken.

I\'ll post up a pic of mine at the weekend for you.

Hello mate.

I got a standard din pocket from halfords and fitted my single din stereo on top....dead easy.  I\'ve attached a pic.

Cheers

Looking good! Think Adam\'s is probably the most straight forward - looks like a good result + you get a handy cubby hole.

Adam - What kind of price are they asking for one of these please mate?

Adam

Can\'t remember mate, about a tenner i think.... nothing that breaks the bank.

Cheers

Cally

how are the 2 secured in? Does anyone know where to get the ones with the wee doors?

Have a look at ArmorAuto.com I think it is.
They sell DIN plates to trade, Ray Smith in Edinburgh stocks them but I think you can browse the catalogue online.

ps: visit the Scottish Meet thread mate, you\'re wanted ;)

Went for the same idea as Adam myself, cant fault it!

I originally tried to get some brackets from Mazda, but they charged me £30 and they arent right (good old Mazda!)

Sorry to hijack the thread, but where did you get your carbon dash mate?

I got the one meant for an MX-5, i haven\'t actually fitted it yet though (still re-doing the dash), but i think it may actually be slightly too big and will need some re-jigging to get it to fit correctly.

If the halfords one above fits straight in, i\'d go for that.

Adam

I got my carbon dash from japan... it\'s a mazdaspeed one and is actually only carbon look.  If you need help sourcing one let me know though they aren\'t cheap :(
