hey guys,

well the blue shell has started to go back together and its come to a bit of a stop, the engine and gearbox wont join together, the mounts for the engine are bolted in but one is stuck in the corner of the j ( drivers side)and wont push in to the end of the j( is that where its ment to stop? ) the gearbox is bolted on to its mount and  cant move any more towards the engine theres about a 1" gap on the passenger side and 1.5" on the drivers, the gearbox spins when you turn the front pulley so the imput shaft seems to be mated is there any trick to mounting them together. is it possable that the splines aint alined?

god help me if the wireing is anything like this:xconfused

any ideas are welcome i\'m not short of getting the BIG hammer out!

Unbolt the gearbox from its mounting and support it with a trolley jack. 9good for manouvering the box too)  :D

one thing i didnt notice when i was putting mine in was the fact that i had a dowel in the back plate and also one in corresponding hole in the bell housing, this stopped it going together.

I would also unbolt the gear box and if you still struggle take the engine mounts off (with the engine suspended) and put them back after you have mated the box and engine.
400 BHP - 650 KG\'s = 616 BHP Per Ton of Rotary Power

That\'s the way to do it! :Thumbsup!

sounds like you are not lining up with the pilot bearing in the eccentric shaft. Basically you need to make the gearbox able to move so you can shake engine about. Worst case senario you have to pull engine back out and make damn sure the clutch is lined up properly.

that J engine mount is a real basterd!!!

the gearbox is on a trolly jack , it most likely what cjr said , the dowls aint close enough to stop the faces mating, yes the j engine mount is a bastard, i think i\'ll have to start by taking the gearbox out making sure the clutch is alined and getting the engine mount in the right place.

btw does anyone have a battery tray they can sell me mine broke when i removed it.

cheers chris

if you can\'t get the clutch lined up right. you can always put the clutch on the input shaft then all you have to do is line up the pilot bearing. Never done it this way, But some engine\'s just don\'t want to go in:( They always do in the end

Then how do you fit the pressure plate?

hey guys its in bolted up and sorted, that the engine, gearbox and drive shaft all done finaly, made a start on the wireing and called it a day.

its funny only took 30mins to get it all bolted together today, just a matter of wobbling the engine into the j mount then pushing the box on and bolting her up :D

I would hazard a guess that you put it on the shaft after the pressure plate and before the engine goes in. Could be wrong! Nah doubt it:evillaugh
