I have seen a couple of differnet videos on how the rotary engine works and when the spark plug fires but there is a descrepancy in the vids I have watched. One video shows the sparkplugs fireing as the rotor compresses the air/fuel mixture and thats it.  Another shows this process again but as the rotor spins the trailing plug fires for a second time just as the rotor is leaving the compression stroke and entering the power stroke?

Which way does the fd do it?

Dave :)

Hi Dave,

Just seen this post - if you look at the animated rotors with the spark plugs at the top of the forum, that is exactly how they fire on every rotary engine (when working correctly).

Each stroke there is ignition (on each rotor face) leading plug first, then a few milliseconds later the trailing plug (to burn the excess fuel - making it more efficient etc.).
Thanks,

Hmm interesting I wonder what wankles use the other way then.

Cheers matey
