Hello all

well ive sat here lat 30 mins reading through every kind of search i can but didnt find a post that will tell me what i would like to know.

Basically I might be getting a Power FC next month as thats the only thing left to do to get rid of the annoying electronics of standard ECU

but my question is (and i know you have to remove some wires)

how much of the original sensors/solenoids do you remove or get away with removing as its not worth having on there? as ive heard you can finaly get rid of that rats nest as its called?

and what controls the wastegate and the twin turbo setup?

as ive seen this http://www.rx7store.net/product_p/block%20plates.htm and im guessing thats for when you go the Power FC route and take of sensors etc?

oh im def getting rid of the air pump setup but cant u just run smaller belt? whats the purpose of changing the pulleys over?

mine is a

1993 FD3s model with K&M induction filters, decat and rear sports exhaust some Jap make

thank you in advance

As far as I know you can only eliminate the rats nest if you go single...... or possibly non sequential???

As for the Power FC you shouldn\'t need to remove any wires from the plug!!!! Just literaly swap the ECU, get it mapped and hay presto, better reliability!!!

whats unreliable about the standard ECU ? I\'ve never heard of a Mazda ECU going wrong ... heard of them being replaced and being found to not be the problem.

I believe you can run a smaller belt rather than fit the pullys.

I have never heard of a Mazda ECU going wrong either - I have heard of PFC\'s going wrong thoug! (just had mine installed and mapped :D)

well its this idle prob ive got (see other post)

its def electronic prob and witht eh Apexi makes it easier to see if something out of range

plus ive read that its better to run the Apexi as fuels alot better than original ECU

out of itnerest any why of finding out if my ECU chipped?

Some people have found they have a modified ECU - it will have some extra stickers on it & sometimes with a company name on it like Re:Amemiya - doesn\'t happen oftern, but just take the cover off where the ecu sits to reveal the top of it (left side of passanger footwell)

cool ill have a check some point this week

I would say for a stock RX7 the stock ECU is a hell of a lot better than the apexi - it has the all important knock retard facility!

Ta, Paul.

edit: of course, since you don\'t have a stock RX7 (i see), the apexi is better than the stock! :)

yep sadly exhaust sounds to damm good and of course de-CAT of which from i see a few people getting through MOT\'s without them so that puts a smile on my face :)

also airfilters always great lol

I am looking for a SMIC something like greedy and change bost tubes but thats about it really

so is there anyone with a original twin turbo setup out there running the Apexi power FC? that can answer this?

You don\'t remove any wires/pipes/solonoids when you install the PFC. Its literally a case of:

1) remove stock ECU,
2) insert PFC ECU.

And the stock ECU just unplugs from the loom.

Cheers, Paul.

get it mappet at a tuning shop!!!! got my done mapped for mods like catback open filter..... 1 week later 1 rotor booooooooom all apexes whent straight to hell. other rotor had 8.5 comp :D

so does the Apexi still control all those solenoids ?

I read up tehre is four wire u have to remoe form the ECU plug when u put the apexi in, is that true?

and the does it still do that silly high rev start when its cold? on the side of the throttle body? as i really want to remove that thing lol

also toyzRus  - bit confused by ur comments?

i bought a done mapped "for my mods" powerfc from jason. That map gave me too little fuel... and too little fuel made my rotor go "boom". Get yourself a powerfc and tune it at a tuning shop, never buy done mapped ecu\'s all cars are diffrent

aposegil

ah got u thought u was calling someone a muppet lol sorry mate just me lol

well the last week i think ive spent ever spare sec reading thread after thread and forum after forum to try and get as much info on this idle prob ive got

anyhow as i was reading up i found something interesting. You guys mention that once u go to Power FC u still need the soleniods to run the turbos but the guys in america have been using aftermarket boost controlers with twin controls i.e two solenoids to control two wastegate/twin turbo setup\'s

has anyone here done this? if so hows it worked out?

You\'re trying to make this way more complicated than it is, or needs to be mate :)

Take out old ecu, put in new one, tune it! The ecu will control boost fine, and the tuner should be able to sort out your idle problem at the same time.

If you want rid of the air pump get yourself a pulley kit along with the shorter belt to suit. Why get a pulley kit? If you just put a shorter belt on, it\'ll likely slip. The kits come with a larger (usually) knurled face to grip the belt better.

Job done.
