I dont agree with that at all im afriad.  Them offsets stated sound ok to me though.

8.5J ET30 in front will rub.

i\'m looking to buy some new alloys and have found some i like, but i don\'t understand the whole offset/pcd thing so i was hoping if i post the sizes could you guys in the know tell me whether these should fit my gen3 FD or not? thanks...

they are 17" with 7.5" width, a 114.3 PCD and 32mm offset.

there are no tyres on the wheels at the moment so if they would fit ok, what size sidewalls would i need to go for to avoid any rubbing (standard suspension at moment, but may lower a small amount in future?).

Do you need a higher off set to make the wheel stick out further? or is it the lower the number means it sticks out more?.

400 BHP - 650 KG\'s = 616 BHP Per Ton of Rotary Power

That\'s the way to do it! :Thumbsup!

The offset is the distance from the wheel centre line to the mounting face. Soooo the larger the offset the further away (towards the outside of the wheel) the mounting face is from the centreline.

think of it this way.

start with a zero offset wheel e.g the mounting face is on the centreline

now move the mounting face towards the outside of the wheel by 40mm, compared with a zero offset wheel the outside lip of the wheel will have moved inboard by 40mm

so a -40mm offset will move the rim 40mm outboard compared to a zero offset and a +40mm offset will move the rim 40mm inboard compared to a zero offset

Anyone know what the standard offset is on an RX-8 ?

Ok gen1 series 1/2 have 4x110pcd
ser 3 have pcd 4x114.3 pcd (nissan wheels)
as far as I know they both use the 40 mm offset wheels (same as nissan)

the RX2 / r100 use a 25 offset

MikeLMR

no, series 1 &2 have an offset of 20-25mm  they are not the same offset as the later series 3

Kaptainbalistik

Makes sense, The series 3 does have a slightly wider wheel face to wheelface than a ser 2.

Could I use these wheels??

18 x 7.5 available in +37/45

Cheers!!

Too narrow, stock wheels are 8 inch.

Bugger, why can\'t wheel manufacturers over here make wider wheels :)

I\'d best get saving cos they look very similar to Racing Hart CX-Rs but obviously lots cheaper! Best save for the real thing.

Offsets question again :)

I found a much cheaper wheel similar to the CX-R http://www.bkracing.co.uk/aspbite/alloy-wheels/gallery-wheel.asp?ID=51

I\'d preferably want 18x8 front and 18x9.5 rear, the offsets for both widths are et 30 and 42 and 45.

Are these usable or would I have to go with the 45 offset in 18x8 for front and rear?

Cheers :)

Paul.
