Does anyone have a write up etc on How you fit a set of Fd Secondary injectors (850\'s) into the Primarys?

I\'m led to belive its quite easy, you just need to open the Fuel rail up?  If this is the case can you buy Aftermarket Rails that have been made to suit?

Cheers

Chris,  its easy,  take the 550\'s out,  machine 2.5 - 3mm off the top of the rail/holder thing to allow the injectors to sit a little lower. Make sure you take no more than 3 mm off as it wont seal.

400 BHP - 650 KG\'s = 616 BHP Per Ton of Rotary Power

That\'s the way to do it! :Thumbsup!

Do you mean take 2.5-3mm of the top of the rail or or the side the injectors go into? (bit hard to explain)

Hi Tony,

About 4 years ago I was told like you that you needed to take 3mm off the cap but after lots of measuring I realised you dont and that 850\'s are a direct replacment fit and three cars later that have had 850\'s poped in place of the little ones all is well.

If i used 850\'s in my Primarys and Secondarys would it be harder to set up or use more juice at low speed? would i be best of leaving the Primarys until i go single and just stick to 1600 secondrys?

The reason i ask is i had 4x1000cc\'s in my Turbo 2 (which was used as an every day car) and i could\'nt get it set just right to stop it killing my plugs (10\'s)

Or is it down to the Tuner? With me having to pay for the rebuild i stick so the safe side a bit to much i think..

If you put the 850\'s there\'s a very good chance your going to need a laptop connected up just to start the car

If you are going to put 1600 secondaries, as long as you have a PFC and not a microtec you will have plenty of fuel, i only use 75% unj duty cycle with that set up at 380 RWHP, and thats with 43 psi base fuel pressure.

The primaries do fit in the rail, i just like to machine the top of the rail so the bottom of the injector gets closer to the bottom of the rail.

I didnt have a problem with 850 primaries in my FD but some have said its more responsive with the 550\'s.

With a microtech its easier to tune if the injectors are the same or close in size.

not my experience. it will start up on the key when installed and setup correctly.

850 primaries work fine although the idle is a little rougher and you will need the equipment to adjust the injector settings on your ecu.

Tony are you using a 044 with that set up? My goal is a safe 350rwhp, so just 1600\'s should be fine then with the right Pump and reg... O and a good day of setting up

antnicuk

Yes, i am using an 044.  350 rwhp will not be a problem on 550/1600\'s.

Can i just jump in here with a question: What about 850\'s and 1300\'s?

(currently I have 550\'s and 1300\'s - not setup yet, as the engines not gone in the car, but i have my old secondaries so could put them in if necassary)

antnicuk

You can still make 350 rwhp with 550/1300s, i\'m not sure what you would get max though.  It depends what set up you are going for.

Technicaly you should get the same flow from 850/1300 as you would from 550/1600.  All adds up to the same flow overall.

I\'d strongly recommend you get your 1300s cleaned and flow checked at whatever rail pressure you intend to use them at under boost. Are they bored 850s or new 1300s from elsewhere?

They\'re bored 850 i believe (standard seconday rail) They were running well from the car they were taken from (roystonnxx\'s/Gregs)
