When I was first looking for a front mount I couldn\'t find any information about the various options availible. Now the time has come for me to upgrade my Front mount and I thought this thred might help other people who are looking to get one.

Here is my situation:

I have  just upgraded to a T04 single turbo, and while my current front mount was excellent on the twins, it is not suitable for the amount of flow produced by the new single, therefore I need one larger.

Here is the current set up as it was on the twin setup. I wanted something which did not require me to stand up the radiatior.

If possible I would like to do something else similar  and would like to know if there are any other kits that can do this? I have seen this setup on a members car:

Does anyone know more about it?

Other than that, how do people rate the different kits, any input would be usefull, thankyou

Mark

PS I also found this kit for sale:  http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=8075737300&rd=1&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWA%3AIT&rd=1

the blown engine thread is getting all the attention
my opinion for what it worth is try to think what ur eventual power will end up and then look at various size intercoolers over 1 bar ur prob want any 3 row icooler but this will raise water temp..a lot of people have also gone charge cooler route as this has slightly higher intake but shorter piping and pressure drop across the intake giving quick spool up.speak to more than one of the vendors tell them ur power hopes and take the advise from several before making ur choice as different set ups offer different gains.also look at water injection as a safety measure not a tuning tool

Thanks for that, I\'m not gonna be changing the turbo again, I think this setup will be more than enough for me for the time I will have the car, so I won\'t be upgrading any further. and won\'t need anything to handle much more than this turbo can produce, probably 350bhp MAX.

I\'m running a BLITZ fmic, was fitted when I bought it, it seems to do the job fine, I have a T04S runnung 330 rwhp at .85 bar. My intakes are good and my water temps are good with an Apexi radiator behing the fmic.

This was fitted to my car when I bought, if I was upgrading from standard I\'d go V mount.

For the power you want , I\'d consider a good quality standard mount perhaps.

(if that doesn\'t work go to members rides and look for \'quick preview...\'

There\'s a pic in there of an Apexi GT-Spec FMIC setup, think it\'s the largest they do/did, no problems with the rad or intake temps, but its never been tracked which would be the real test.

Cheers, Jode

edit : ah crap, just realised you were after something where you could move the rad. I\'ll now shut up :)

moving or not moving the rad all info is welcome, an thanks for the pics, it looks like you have to ,move the rad for this setup anyway, so don\'t worry.  Will this kit suit a single setup? as I like the look of it\'s size!  What has been done with the air con system?

Cheers

Hi Mark,

The aircon\'s been completely removed, as has the airpump, and the power steering pulley - has been replaced with an electro-hydraulic (bottom right cap). I like having lots of space for no reason whatsoever :) )  In all honesty with genuine fast none-track driving i\'ve had no heat problems in any area whatsoever, so much so i haven\'t considered any other setup. You\'re probably not all that far from me (ST18 0HJ), you\'re more than welcome to come check the car over. It\'s a HUGE fmic, but not cheap so the alternatives for the money are a charge cooler, but my only concern there is the (as far as i can tell.. uncommented on.. ) weight of the system. The car will be up and running again nearer september so will record some temps again then. No rad temp problems with the stocker either, the bigger the rad the weightier it is again, and the more i get concerned with the calorie gain :)

edit : ah and im sure it\'s fine for single turbo use, if not great, i\'ll look on the apexi site but last time i checked there wasnt an alternative that was any better.
Cheers, Jode

i do like the look of that second pic

im after one aswell but i want to keep my aircon and pref not move the battery out of the engine bay, using a smaller one would be fine thought

Mark im running the same IC as Gerbil with the rad behind the IC. Water temps on stock rad never go above 90c and intake temps are about 25 in the evening and 37 in the day in this weather and thats on stock twins. Thats keeping the battery ubnder the bonnet but getting rid of the air con completley

My recommendation to you would be a Greddy TypeR FMIC in 2 or 3 layer design. It depends on your Turbo- size and turbo flow. If you rum a "smal" T04E or Greddy TD06-20G, Greddy TypeV would do the job for you, if you rum T04S or Greddy TD06-25G or GT35/40, TypeR with 2 layer is your choice. Big single like T04R , T78, T88 or GT42 should be oK with 3 Layer TypeR Greddy FMIC.

Blitz I/C is very good for stock Twins in my opinion. Will be OK on "smal" to mid- size singe.

Apexi I/C\'s are known to be very good, bvut I have no experience with them, as them are overpriced for my little pocket...

Hope this helps.

NO ROTOR, NO MOTOR !

Yeah thats great mate, very helpfull! I\'ve got a T04E (baby), so the next task is to find one of the Greddy Type V Units cheap I guess, anyone know of any for sale?
