Hi all

Can anyone help with the follow problem.

A brief overview of the defect.

When starting the engine from cold:

Engine starts & revs to 2000 rpm then falls to zero & stalls.
On restart idles fine, after 30 seconds starts to smoke (white) heavily. Slowly clearing.
(but not fully)

When driving:

Upon depressing the clutch (when coming to a stand still) the engine will stall. Restarts fine each time.
This will clear (but not completely) after approx 10 mins.
Again after about 10 mins the idle speed increases from 750 to 1100 rpm.
Smoke can still be seen when pulling away in 1st.
Sometimes the engine becomes sluggish and slow to pull away from stand still or when moving.

When starting the engine from hot: (after engine left for half an hour)

As with both the above but starts and idles first time.

Thanks
Anthony

Uhm....(scratches head)...Wouldn\'t like to say but doesn\'t look too good....Hopefully somebody here will have some idea though.
FD or not FD? that is the question.

What model Rx7?? If its a Second gen its proberly the TPS, not to alarm you or anything but its worth getting it Compression tested becouse i\'ve seen simaler problems on a low comp engine.

Hi

It\'s a 3rd gen 92 plate with on mods and 28000 miles on the clock.
Brought from Newera 4 weeks ago. Taking it back this Sat.
Just looking for ideas as to the fault.
Only use it weekends, last weekend worked fine no probs at all now this.

Has it been mapped for UK fuel and has it had a compression test already ???

Miguel usuallu supplies very good rx7\'s so hopefully nothing too bad, but does slightly sound like the engine might be about to give in already

Hi

Not sure what was done fuel side. Just told to use super unleaded.
Coolant levels fine & havn\'t needed to top up the oil but i have only covered 300 miles.
I always allow the engine to warm up before pushing it and cool down after use. Not that i\'ve had a chance too still getting use to it.

The stalling side of things might have something to do with there being a loose connection or hose somewhere allowing the revs to drop off and eventually stall the car, getting white smoke on start up is ok but not loads of it and not then continue to do so after being warm.

If you are happy with the car overall then ask Miguel if you can take it to a specialist and see if they can find the faults and hopefully Miguel / newera will cover the costs of doing so as i know they have done so in the past.

Also if the car has been on stand still for a while take it for a good long run and get it run in again, sometimes these cars need a good drive to clear away the cob webs, these engines build up carbon quite quickly and require a quick blast from time to time to clear out.

Hope you can get a result :Thumbs-up

Just got news from Gerth at Newera. The smoking is down to damaged rotor tip/tips and the turbos leaking oil.

Basically needs a rebuild & turbos recon.

However the seems to be some confusion if its covered under the warranty or not.

Has anyone had a similar problem and if so was it covered.

The cars covered 28800 miles 300 of them by me. Only mods are panel filter and cat back system.

Thanks
