Don Pamponi

Has anyone tryed getting an MOT under the new VOSA computerised system?
Well I have & the 1st thing they did was do an emissions test, which It failed in spectacular fashion by throwing out double the amount of CO2 & H Carbons allowed!

You see the idiots have left out of the new database the bit about exemting rotaries & it now instructs the tester to run an emissions test.
Fortunately Mat at RXmotors knew the regs & pointed the tester at an obscure flow chart which has the only reference to rotaries being exempt.

So beware!  You will have to fight for your MOT & make the tester look for a flow chart suplement in the regs book.

Happy MOT\'ing folks.

Mine did fail the test in May but not by much i knew the tester and he ajusted the mixture for me but i always thought it had affected the power as she was set up perfect by WGT and ive not touched it since, it\'s going back to have the weber fitted next month so i will get them to set it up again and i dont really want it being messed with after that really, i guess the best thing to do is make a note and take a picture of your settings and if it fails just ask if they can adjust it to pass then change it back

A modded lump like yours & mine will never pass the emissions in a month of sundays, but the point is: if you are aware of the regs you don\'t need to take the emissions test!

Yeah, i have a third gen on a J plate, and therefore i didn\'t have to take an emissions test.

My 13b bridge was no prob,I even had a lil more premix in the tank as precaution for running in the motor. As long as the motor does not smoke whilst running at prescribed rpm,it may puff a \'smoke\' on start up but has to go away.
Again it comes down to the tester at the MOT station, the best is to find one that does a lot of vintage\\classic\\historic cars....:driving

This is what I wrote for 3rd gen owners, but the same still applies for later cars.  I will do a bit more digging next week on the matter for older cars. usually they do not get one because the computer does not want to know what the results are, later cars it does want figures......

Unfortunately you do, the exemption only applies to engines manufactured prior to the mid 80\'s (can\'t remember the exact date but I have looked it up in the manuals and have posted it before)

davehg

my single turbo failed to start with but i just removed fuel on the commander, so where is this obscure chart???? would be good to get a copy on here
There are performance cars and then there is the RX-7...........

12.3 second 1/4 mile, terminal speed of 122mph (1st ever drag run on a TO4R)
