oh! :( That doesn\'t sound too easy! That\'s gonna mean removing a fair bit, I guess?

Hate the way that I sound like a total noob. I\'m usually good with a lot of engines, but I\'m still getting to grips with this!

EDIT: Aha! just found a disconnected pipe. Kind of down the back of the engine near the bulkhead/firewall there\'s a pipe off. Gonna try & get it back on without removing too much. Typical that it\'s in such an awkward spot!

EDIT 2: Still not starting. It\'s trying to fire but not managing it. Although that\'s what it was doing anyway. Took top 2 plugs out & they\'re pretty soaked, though.

If it\'s flooded, even after the cause has been fixed, you\'ll need to dry off the plugs, warm them, run it w/out the egi fuse or plugs to clear the excess fuel - don\'t want to be smoking at this point - then put the plugs back in, egi fuse back in and you should be ok (if you have found the cause of the flooding that is)

Loud? Hell yes! :D

it may be the pipe that you have seen off as you can just about see the FPR down between the bulk head and the UIM.
400 BHP - 650 KG\'s = 616 BHP Per Ton of Rotary Power

That\'s the way to do it! :Thumbsup!

Cool.

Pretty sure it\'s flooded, through trying to start it, so after work I\'m gonna get the plugs out, etc. Hopefully I\'ll be posting to say it\'s up & running a little later.:driving

Did all the deflooding. Plugs out, burnt off petrol, cleaned them up. Took egi out, turned it over a few times. Plugs in, egi in, and after the usual shaky bits of firing, it fired up. Revs were going past 3000rpm fine, too. Except I had to sit with it running on the drive as my bonnet was still open & nobody was home. I didn\'t wanna completely take my foot off the accelerator cuz it would probably cut out!

So, let it get to normal operating temperature. But after a while I took my foot right off & the revs dropped a bit too low & it cut out. Tried to re-start it, but it was having none of it. Just "slightly" attempting to fire for the 1st second or so, then nothing.

Now, I\'m back to square one! :( So, I took all the plugs out again, cleaned them up again, took egi out, turned it over, put everything back in, but it still doesn\'t want to start.

Is it best to leave it and do it when it\'s cold?

Also, the plugs were pretty black after I took them out the second time. Although I\'ve suspected it\'s running too rich for a while. But is there a way to make it run more lean or is it a case of waiting till I get a PFC?

Gonna try the deflooding again tomorrow night after the football. Charging the battery at the mo as I\'ve given it quite a caning and could probably do with making sure it will give a decent spark!

If that doesn\'t work, then I\'m back to the beginning cuz I don\'t know what would be causing it, then!

dj_dee99

Been attempting to deflood it this evening. I\'ve had the plugs out, egi out, turned it over a few times, egi & plugs back in, etc, 4 times now, and every time the plugs are just getting soaked in petrol in a matter of seconds.

No idea what to do now, though. It just floods all the time. Strange that it got running the other day, though. But this time it\'s having none of it.

It\'s just beginning to annoy me now :Grrr . I\'m recharging the battery again now, because I\'ve given it such a drain in trying to get it going so much!

So, I really have no idea what to do next. (get a Supra or Skyline sounds like the easiest answer at the mo!!!!! ).

Tow start, works nearly every time. Even with the most temperamental non starter ;)

Once running, give it a really good long drive to give it a good clear through :)

*edit* just read the rest of your post, not so straightforward then by the sound of things :( but at least it\'ll run again.

Once started, rev the nuts off it, don\'t even think about letting it try to idle for a while on its own.

tj5www

been reading about your problem i had the same thing happen to me all i did was fit new plugs and it runs fine now hope this my be off some help to you  TJ

dj_dee99

Yeah. Thinking of getting my mate over some time tomorrow to tow start it.

tj5ww, I recently put in new plugs. And a new battery, too.

Martiny

Ok, its obviuos that something is wrong, not just a flooding problem.

So, I would next get the codes form the ecu. Seems to me something is telling it to pump loads of fuel in.

O.k. How do I get the ECU codes?

Gonna try a tow start later on & see what happens. Had got it running the other day after deflooding it & it wasn\'t playing up at 3000rpm like it had been the other night. So will cross my fingers. :)

EDIT: I\'ve got the plugs out again. It tends to be the top 2 plugs that seem to be getting really wet with petrol, the bottom 2 stay fairly dry. Is that normal? Well, I mean is that normal in a flooding kind of way?

EDIT 2: Did all the usual deflooding stuff. No suprise that it was having none of it & the top 2 plugs are soaked again! I\'m getting pretty fed up with it now, though. Lost count of how many times I\'ve had the plugs out. 12, maybe 13 times now?

Martiny

The top 2 plugs are not AS exposed to the combustion chamber as the bottom 2 are, so this is normal.

I dont have a link to the codes, do a search on here or on google.

dj_dee99

Ah, I see.

Found a thread that explains how to get the codes & what they mean. Will check that out & see if it gives me any ideas.

Martiny

All right then !  Lets us know what you find.
