Well done Pete, It would be a good idea to cover over the hole in the IC cold air supply duct,

I dont think it\'s a major problem, but the air should be directed through the IC, with that hole it\'s an easier route for the cooling air to escape, i have fixed mine by using some thin card glued over it for now, but will rivit some thin alloy over it later, should be easy enough to cover it for now, your new Air filters dont use that inlet duct now and that gives the IC more flow than standard which is good, but only if you can cover over that hole in some way

Quickest way to drop BHP.............. fit after market filters, all they do is suck in hot air from the engine bay unless you devise another means of cold supply and to compound that you have reduced your cold air feed to your intercooler. Some mods are worthwhile some arnt :2Confused

TRex

Peter, I believe I have the original top piece for that mate.
Let me know if you want it and I\'ll bring it to RS for you if I find it!

 Rgds
TRex the Ecowarrior - Recycling exhaust gas and using it to create energy. Just doing my bit

Fitted HKS racing suction kit  when i had an EVO never a problem ended up running 279 ATW although understand what you are saying wouldnt a heat shield around the cones solve that ?also got a well vented bonnet to help,at the end of the day i love the looks of these compared to the standard plastic airbox

Looks are great, if you had spent as much time as I have testing combinations of upgraded parts you might understand where I was comming from. Mazda in their infinate wisdom spent £illions on developing a combined air feed to the IC and intake, unless you are ditching the TT setup believe me twin suction filters is not the way to go, yes they look good but do nothing in enhansing the performance. Now Feed do a blinding cold air supply filter/ box type thingy that ACTUALY works unlike these \'other\' upgraded systems. Vented bonnet is great for exiting hot air, will not promote cold air into your new suction kit. A cold feed is the way to go.
