Hi,

Only just picked my new FD up on Thursday. Went up to visit some friends this weekend up North and some kind woman decided to park her pug 405 on the front of it. :(

Fortunetly the woman has admitted all liability (she reversed into me whilst I was stationary) and I\'ve got three witnesses who all saw what she did. I couldn\'t even bring myself to be angry \'cos she was so shaken up. We had to drive her back to my mate\'s house because we were worried about her driving in the state she was in.

The damage seems to be purely cosmetic but it\'s made a hell of a mess of my nice mazdaspeed fibreglass nose. Not sure if it\'ll be possible to repair it but I suspect it may be a job to source a replacement?!?

hmm - can you even spot the damage.

Is there any justice in this world??

Her insurance company are going to be more shaken up when they get the repair bill. The parts will have to be sourced from Japan, and they will cost a bomb.
Try RE:Worx, think they can get Mazdaspeed items. Be carefull and make sure that the insurance company are going to pay in full!

Really sad to see the car looking like that. Hope its sorted with no problems.

What can you say, You have to look on the bright side at least it was\'nt a Car park hit and run! It will be sorted out.

Ric

exactly what I thought but still a bit gutting when you can still count the time you have owned the car in hours :(

Makes it worse that I\'ve been driving nearly ten years and never had an accident in all that time.

I don\'t reckon there should be any problems given that I\'ve got her full details and she seemed a decent person. Failing that, the missus is a lawyer!

As you say, it could have been a hit and run or some twat without insurance.

really unluckly - not even had it a week!!! Real bummer whenever it happens. Hopefully, it will all be sorted out by insurance without too much hassle.

If you do manage to convince the insurance to change the nose, drop me a line - I will have the old one off you. (bloody hell - I\'m turning into a vulture!!! Te he he! -).

That hurts.....I know \'cos same thing happened to me.  36 hours of proud ownership & I was reversed into.  Don\'t know whether it made it worse, but the culprit was my wife, reversing her stupid 4wd.  My fault, obviously, because the RX was "too low to see in the mirrors...."  Yeah, right......

Hope you get it sorted out - good move to have a camera handy btw - should help the insurance company.

This seems to be a common occurance, do you think it is because these cars are just that bit too low for your average joe to take notice of?

Dave.

Have to say though your car looks lovely and shiny :D

Nothing quite like a good buff :)

Ric

cheers and thanks for the sympathy.

taking the car to some people I know to assess the damage tomorrow.

Spoke to the woman\'s insurance broker today and he doesn\'t think there should be a problem - wants me to send him the quote for repair. He seemed to think that they would only need an independent assessor to check the damage if the bill was high... hmm.. :D

I said I\'m quite happy for independent assessment if they want but I\'m going to make sure the work is done by someone I trust! Paintwork and repair on glass fibre is a pain in the a*se and I don\'t want it to look like a bag \'o sh*t in a few months time.

I think you\'re right Dave - I\'ve had 2/3 narrow escapes as well as the wifey-panel-bash. People trying to reverse out of a parking space whilst I\'m crawling along trying to spot an empty slot, seems to be a popular one.  Second most popular would be pulling out in front to overtake someone, having not seen me in the outside lane.  I now drive with sidelights on all the time (not what I had in mind when I bought a nice sports car) & am developing a healthy ncp-phobia...........Neil

Matt

you should be able to get that fixed easy for about £200, i crashed my car with a fibre glass bumper and the thing was much worse, nearly and half and its fine now

Sorry to read about you situation, there are a couple of things I\'d consider if you haven\'t already.

You say \'they\' are sending out an assesor - he will be working on their behalf so I\'d pay and find my own independant assesor to supply \'me\' with a report.

If you prang an ordinary car, no matter how small the dent, the first question the garage ask \'is it an insurance claim?\' if you say yes then it\'s a new wing, door etc. No question of a repair.

I would insist on a new nose - you didn\'t buy it with a damaged/repaired nose so why should you settle for one now. Different if it was your fault but it wasn\'t.

Good luck.

John
I started with nothing and I have most of it left
