Went to a local meguirs dealers today and they didnt know what Clay Bar was. I was recommended it by Gerry and thought may aswell give it a try. No luck after searching 4 different Motor Factors for it :Hammer

Anyway, iv been reading, and was told by some1 who worked for Ferrari that sanding with 3000 grade wet and dry before washing, T cut & polishing is the best method to use. He says Meguirs is the best but Mothers Clay Bar is better than the Meguirs one.

Has anybody sanded the whole car before doing this, im getting the heeby jeebies just thinking about taking sandpaper to my car!

Rixio i used to use Meguirs but now use all Mothers products claybar and polish, here\'s the website for the local suplier he does mail order or you could have a ride over to hull. http://www.crystalclean.ltd.uk/ Speak to the guy there as depending on car colour he recomends different polishes if you get polish as well.

Well the car is black, (you saw it on Saturday) and its got swirl marks on it, also some of the buffing compound hasnt been taken off by the bodywork guy after he used the machine. Gona Shultz the car tmrw so when i get back i\'l wash dry, t-cut or use meguirs polish kit. How long does it take to Clay your car? I know i need the whole car doing so presume its a full day...all this stuff is expensive aswell...it all adds up...£10 for CB £10 for polish £10 for shampoo £10. Do you get the Meguirs stuff in a 3 step package or do you have to buy seperate? Iv got a good 3 drums full of Merr aswell but Merr is hard work :(

I have used the Meguiars clay bar and thoroughly recommend it, Although you have to make sure the car is washed and clean. I used the meguiars shampoo then micro fibre drying towel (Meguiars of course) and then used the clay. Otherwise if you get dust in the clay it acts as sandpaper !!!

It got rid of all my overspray marks with it plus any tar/bird lime still there etc was amazing. You get the clay with a spray that you spray on before rubbing with the clay. It took me about 2 hours to do the whole car and then I used the Meguiars 3 stage products eg stage 1 paint cleaner, stage 2 polish, stage 3 carnuba wax and the car came up unbelievably. Admittedly it took a whole day (8 hours) to do properly but well worth it.

Oh and the best thing about Meguiars........it smells nice !!!!!

This is sad I know but I went to a Meguirs Car Cleaning Training day a few years back   :Party

But what they taught you was very useful, and the tips they have given have done me proud :)

Basically thoroughly wash a clean the car, making sure to remove any loose dirt.  Then use the clay and fine detailer spray, then use the Paint Scrub cleansing stuff (cant remember name) then use polish (NXT Tech Wax is fantastic)  I did mine the other day before taking it into the bodyshop.  With my GF helping took about 2-3 hours (I didnt do the polish bit at the end)  To clay the car yourself I would say about 60-90mins. Its really worth doing - especially on black as the results are amazing, comes up like glass.

Attached a pic of my S2000 after having it done.  I have better ones that shown the amazing shine but not with me.  Love black cars when they are clean   :Thumbs-up  :InLove

Yeah I agree, the NXT wax is pretty good, its easier to wipe off than the Gold polish, I find that leaves smear marks and no amount of wiping off gets rid of it.

Here is a pic of mine when I did the clay and the 3 stages:

Reminds me I need to do my yearly major clean.

Love the S2000, great Summer car.

Have any of you used Maguires Mirror Glaze wax on your cars?????
I used it on my mx5 once and didnt have to rewax for about 4 months, and I washed it every week!!!!

So I bought a pot the other day £17.00 and intend to give the 7 a thorough going over for rotorstock!!!!
