Dont know what they stand for if they do stand for anything at all but an FC relates to the engine type in the series 2 RX7. the FD is the engine type in the 3rd Gen RX7 like what you have FD3S. :)

Your welcome.

Welcome to the club too btw :)

Kron

Its Chassis type not engine type.

I use FC and FD to recognise the shape of the car but thought an FD3S is the engine if the 3rd Gen?

MillSpeed

The engine in the 3rd Gen is the 13B REW.

No because they both have a 13b engine allbeit they differ in functional design ( standard port size etc).

ahhh fair enough, I knew the engine in the FC is a 2300cc capacity (or there abouts) and the FD was 2600cc so thought they we\'re different engines.

Learnt something myself then :) thanks

Technically both engines are 1308cc\'s, it\'s just the department of transport decided that the capacity of the rotary in the 3rd gen should be twice the swept volume i.e. 2616cc, something to do with it shifting it\'s entire displacement for every 180 degrees of rotation or some sh*t, basicaly it\'s like saying a 500cc 2-stroke has a displacement of 1 litre. Earlier models were rated as 2354cc (this is the figure insurance companies seem to like using aswell) as a result of attempts to classify it for racing to take into account the higher power output of the rotary compared to piston engines of the same displacement. They decided 1.8x1308 was an appropriate figure!

LOL, The Second and Thrid Gen Rx7 both use the 13b so they are the same cc (2600cc or 1308cc or 2x654cc)

Your thinking of the 12A which is thought of as being 2300cc (thats the First gen or Fb)

Fd3S is the Thrist Gen Rx body type with a 13b-rew fitted and was made as a Twin Turbo.

Fc3S is the Coupe Second Gen there was four diffrent types of engine of the top of my head (13b 4 port NA,13b 6 port NA, 13b S4 Turbo, 13b S5 Turbo).

Then there was the FC3C thats the Convertable then was only sold here with the Turbo engine, But was only sold in the US with the 6 port NA engine.

Ok Rant over :)
