Hi all...
I\'ve wanted to get myself an FD for a long time but I was kinda scared of the whole rotary engine thing, having heard all the horror stories etc and the fact that I\'m in Ireland and there\'s not exactly a plethora of specialists over here...

So anyway, I was in an import place last week with a friend of mine, he was in buying an R33 and I was kinda bored and asked the owner if he had an RX7s, he pulled a face and sent me around the back to look at three he had, two red, one yellow one. So the flame rekindled, I saw the yellow one and wanted it.

So I go back around and start talking to the guy again... blah blah blah, long story short, he doesn\'t know how much he\'s looking for it so I\'ve to call back into him during the week. Car needs a rebuild and I think it needs a coat of paint (roof is faded, along with the bumpers etc)

I\'d really appreciate if any of you guys could give me some advice - the car appears to be an RS-R and I really want it... is it a bad idea considering what it needs? how much do you think it\'s worth the way it is?

Here\'s a couple of pics... thanks!

Okay, actually, I\'m pretty sure I\'m buying it but how much should I offer do you think???

Any one want to buy a clean E36 M3?  :p

G@NDY

If it is an rsr they are very rare, not sure how to tell them apart really, que Mr John Yorke :p As for how much you should offer, if it needs a rebuild and a respray i wouldnt give more than 2 grand. But yellow are also rare and i think they do look smart, good luck and let us know how you get on buddy :WaveBye

thanks mate, will do...

Is there any way I can check what edition it is? I saw a sticker on the clocks that said 30th anniversary (i think)?

sadgoth

what year is it? the RSR was a 98 car if memory serves (again cue Mr Yorke for confirmation on that) should have an aluminuim foot rest on the passenger side, 30th anniversary badges, a knee pad on the drivers side as well as having bilstien dampers and gun metal grey alloys.

You should find a sticker on the highlighted area. The sticker should state what model the RX-7 is.

hth :)

I saw a couple of web pages that list RS-Rs as being october 97? this one is registered as a 97... when I was looking at it, the guy didn\'t have the keys so I\'ll drop back later in the week and see what I can find (knee pad, foot rest etc.) - thanks!

Freddy

RSR\'s started in 1997. :)

sadgoth

Also, this will tell you if the chassis no. starts with FD3S-420***

That should give a definite answer

Hi edgasket.. I have a few RX-7\'s not for sale though.. if you want any help / advise gimme a shout as I\'m in Ireland (south west). True there are no real specialists in Ireland however there are a couple of us doing our own work / tuning in the South West. Beware  I\'ve come across a few lemons on the market here and even worse - botch rebuild jobs by some guys out there who proport to know about rebuilding rotaries.

PM me if you want.. laters.

edgasket

thanks siverfd - this lad wanted â,¬11.5k for it the way it was... when I\'d stopped laughing I managed to tell him thanks but no thanks  :Hammer

Now, I have the FD bug back and one of my mates is thinking about buying the M3 off me so I\'ll have to just start looking at some other ones  :Thumbs-up

silverfd, can\'t PM you - drop me a mail? ecashell at eircom.net

11k aint bad for a 97, if she\'s good. Mine is a 96 I payed considerably more for it, but I imported myself and spent 6 months looking for my one.. had 30k miles on it..

Needs a rebuild.. 11k... forget it! But remember.. if you pay peanuts..

John Yorke

Allmost certainly a RSR :mmmm Think yer man is a bit off with his 11.5K :2Rolleyes  Be interested in how he arrived at that price and how he even managed to get such a late model over here [or is it different in Ireland?] Why does it need a rebuild - what miles has it on its clock, for the right money that would make a great project car having the bigger brakes, bilstien suspension ect.
