May sound daft but the more you try to start it and fail the worse it will get.

I\'m just rebuilding an engine that went and who owned it before me ran it on one and a half rotors for a while trying to find a fault until it finaly would\'nt start, when i took the engine to bits i would say there was half a Mug of Fuel in the Exhaust Port and the Rotor was wet but this had been stood for quite a while. So when you get a proper flooded Rx expect alot of Smoke when it starts and also expect it to run a little rough for a few minutes :)

Tried putting the plugs back in after a day of cranking last night. Still no joy  :( just got white smoke from the exhaust and from the plugs  :( Been out early this morning cranking like a good \'un. I have run the battery flat again just cranking her over and over, still getting petrol out of the plug holes, she must be well and truly flooded.

I\'m going to stick the plugs in the oven to warm up a bit before I stick em back in next time, as I don\'t have access to a blow torch would using this method help?

Thing is Rotarys play by diffrent rules when there flooded, If you can imagen you have three baths on a rotor, only one of the three is open at the plug hole when its not moving, so only one Bath will dry out through evaparation. Then basicly what you get is the fuel that is left in the other two Baths, that have to pass first soak the plug as soon they pass over (becouse the Apex\'s act like scrapers pushing the fuel that is in liquid form around the Housing) so the one bath you have dryed out never realy gets a chance of having a dry run, You Warm the plugs up to reduce this effect (they have to be quite hot).

So this is why people will tell you you need to remove the EGI fuse, and all the plugs then Crank the engine over until you don\'t see any White smoke coming out, Then warm the plugs up with a Blow lamp or a gas Hob so they are realy hot (this is best done with the plug in the plug socket) Put the Hot plugs in the lower holes First, then do the same with the Top plugs (if you have got them hot enough you should here a crackling noise as the Plugs burn of the fuel sat in the Plug holes) once the Top ones are done replace the EGI and try it. There are three main things to remember 1. Lots of power in the Battery, 2. Plugs as warm as poss (without melting them of course) 3. Do the Plug warming as quick as poss (i would say warm them all up at the same time if you can then you are not letting one cool as another is heating up)

I still say though if you\'re Struggling get some one to help you and Toe it around the Block, Its the only Sure fire way of getting it to go if its proper flooded, Its mainly becouse your battery is not powering the Starter motor so it is giving a better Spark and the engine will also be turned quicker.

Hi

I had the dreaded flood had the car for two years and first flood:) and after trying a couple of times like you removing the plugs, cranking fuse out (no gas cooker by the way) just heated the plugs up in the oven and bunged them in, I used jump leads from my other car as well for the extra power, my battery was quite new but it still needed that little extra power from my other car to get her going.
The car started with the extra power forim the other car battery

Good luck

Got mine in the oven right now!

Going to give \'em a little longer to warm through then hook her up to me other motor and give it a go.

Fingers crossed (again)

Don\'t forget to turn it over a couple of times without the relay, etc before you put them in, though.

I was told today by someone that putting your foot flat to the floor on the accelerator to stop fuel being pumped into the engine only works on a standard ECU and not if you have an Apexi fitted. Can anyone confirm if thats true or not ?

Well I\'m completely baffled now, Have been trying the whole process since saturday now. I\'ve had the plugs in and out too many times to think about and still no joy! I\'ve heated them up to silly temps and still no joy. When I tried towing her round the block all I got was smoke and no fire! She juts wouldn\'t pick up at all. We towed her for about 20 miles in the end, with me slowly letting the clutch out in second several times she just chugged along, when you put your foot on the acc pedal the boost gauge goes to 0.00 and I get more smoke, she just doesn\'t want to fire up:(

Going to have to give RX Heaven a ring and book her in for them too look at her. :(

More money I haven\'t got being spent on her :(
