Hi there,

When i try to lock the car via the key fob, the alarm is set ok, but i can still open the door. I have to stick the key in the lock and manually lock the car - is this normal?

Cheers, Paul.

Yes: this is normal.

If you want the central locking to work off the alarm, you have to get a solenoid to lock the drivers door, the link the lock and unlock signal from the alarm to that solenoid.

Ok glad its normal!  :Viking

Is this a complicated procedure?

Ta, Paul.

dunno! Haven\'t done it yet!

In theory no. ebay sells lots of door solenoids, you\'d probably need to do some drilling and riveting. Then you\'d need to find your alarm box - which may be difficult as it be be buried in the depths of the dash - then find the feed from the central locking output and feed that to the drivers door solenoid. When that unlocks and locks, it\'ll lock and unlock the passenger door too. So, in theory, easy. In practise, probably a bit of a bugger!

Mr J.T

ive got a solenoid if your after one

Is this a random solenoid, or one that\'ll fit snuggly?

Mr J.T

well it is for central locking, but its not a rex persific

nikp

Do yuo reckon it would be easy to fit yours? And what sort of money are you looking for it?

The silly thing is, the car is able to unlock via the fob (well, mine is anyway), so why can\'t it lock?!  :2Rolleyes

Ta, Paul.

ah - now that\'s interesting. I would assume in that case, that there is something up with the lock signal from your alarm to the solenoid in the drivers door. You need to trace that wire and make sure it\'s in good condition, still in one piece, joined to the solenoid in the drivers door, and connected to the output from the alarm box.

Okey... Does that mean this behaviour is not standard? I.e. on a stock car, the fob does no action with the central locking?

Cheers, Paul.

Mr J.T

im not after much i dont know where it would be suited either way as mine came with central locking:S
yours for a £10 an postage?
