not sure if it is a problem or what, or if anyone else has had the same problem.  When you really push it in first and second thats a grindin sorta sound.  Sounds like it is coming from gearbox area  :xconfused or could be further down, anyone got any ideas????? still seems to have good power but does not sound to good, doesnt seem to do it so much in higher gears and only does it when you really give it some.

What clutch do you have? Do you mean changing from 1st to 2nd under hard acceleration?

A twin plated clutch could possibly cause this.

Okay I might be totally wrong but Id rather tell you incase im right.
I had a grinding noise once too, it turned out to be the pully grinding throught the intercooler pipe. Subsequently I lost all boost and craped myself wondering what it was.
Have a look at the pulleys and make sure they are not contacting.

Its an easy fix if they are, either buy new ones or get the old one welded up.

When you say a "sort of grinding noise"  does it also vibrate and knock  a sort of metalic noise at the same time,  when you also say further back, do you mean to the rear of the car, or the front..  My first thought without actually hearing it would be to check the engine, gear box, and exhaust mountings,, as when you give the car full power it will try to spin the engine and gearbox etc, if the mounts are worn the power train will mov e more than it should hence catching the under side,  this will be more so in the lower gears as well especially from a standstill...  Just a thought.........

its not when changing gear its when you are really giving it lots of acceleration, its more towards the front, engine area, i was thinking it may be something to do with mounts will have to get them checked out.  Also will check on the pulleys and see if they are ok.
