Decatted the car today but mangaged to break the oxygen sensor wire that connects to the original cat. So the sensor is still connected to the original cat(now removed) and i have a broken wire hanging under the car. I know that you are supposed to undo the sensor from the original cat and cable tie it out of the way under the car but i don\'t have that choice now! What can i do?

I also fitted and ran the apexi power fc setup programme and everything went according to plan except the HEAT light is on all the time! is this to do with the wire i have broken???

Any help really appreciated!

Thanks
Nick

Mr J.T

i think in a word yes, friend of mine has done the same. so all it is is because u damaged the oxygen sensor. this wont be in anyway detrimental in anyway, the HEAT light will still function as it would normally (eg detination)
but i will stand corrected. hope this re-assured u a little

that has made me feel a little bit better thanks!

is there any way that i can get the HEAT to not be on all the time but still perform its usual duties of alerting me of any problems like detonation???

cheers

You could always try bridging the feedback wires with a resistor which will fool the ecu into thinking the sensors in place. Not sure what rating resistor you\'d need, the overheat sensor needs a 50ohm one to fool it so it may be worth starting at that until you get the right one or see if one of the fd guys can measure the resistance across there\'s it\'ll save you some time.

cheers kevin,

anybody willing to help!? i take it i can drive the car without worrying too much then
!

Mr J.T

yeah i think you;ll be ok, but just check with someone a litle more knowledgable then myself llol. i know that pip or any other of the tuners can plug into the diagonistics and turn it off, as kevin says you could use a resistor.
i know the lad who has also got this problem is a daily driver with no probs

when i did this i had an alarm buzzer sounding aswell as the heat light untill i put a resistor in.

Jovic82

do you know what size and rating the resister was buddy?

Ada7

Is there no way you could splice the sensor back on?

would that be recommended? did think along those lines but was a bit concerned about acheiving 100% waterproofing on the connection.

right i have tried a resistor and no resistor and the heat light goes out initially but comes back on when driving about. any ideas!?!?!  or could this be the PFC telling me something else is wrong? it doesnt flicker it just stays on for about 10-15 secongs then goes off and then 5 mins later does the same.
