It started off as £2,500........ I soon got bored of that idea!

So he suggested that I go through all of this agony for him by taking it out myself, which would bring the price down to under £1,000.

A little bit better! So I agreed and as you\'ve read ...... what fun it was!!!!:reallymad .

Anyway after it was all done the price has risen to £1,700! Which I cannot afford:( .

After negotiating we finally settled on £1,500. I\'ve been saving for bloody months!!!

grinder

1000 isnt a bad price at all - so how come it jumped to 1700 - or have you hard it ported and the such like ?

Well done m8 you\'ve done very well so far :bandit :D

A grand sounds a little optimistic seeing as Pip quoted me that just for all the seals needed for a rebuild, if i were to do the whole lot myself (i.e. rebuilt the engine myself) and just got the parts from them:eek:, this didn\'t include any rotor housings or anything else extra if required. But i guess 1500 quid is still pretty reasonable to be honest :) What exactly was done and replaced on the engine?

Anyway good luck with putting it all back in, Paul:)

Grizzly

Unfortunatly there is a lot of labor involved in rebuilding a rotary and at £30-£40 an hour soon add\'s up.

I would have thought 1k would not get you much, 1700 would have a set of Apex\'s etc and i would say thats about the going rate.

Chris

Sean

Final bill = £1500.

This included a secondhand housing

Re grinding both housings

replacing all tip seals

a new back plate seal

and something else was replaced!!

I don\'t know what half of these are, but he assured me that it was a good price.

Thanks again to the mighty Pip, I guess!

grinder

so is the engine back in the car yet ?

grinder

that good eh !! ha ha ha ha !

so what sort of time scale you looking at for putting the lump back in ??

you will have to give me a shout when you come to do it - i would love to see what it looks like ( although i will need a pass out from the better half ! )

When I am ready to sink it back in, I\'ll let you know. That way you and the better half can come to mine!

You can assist me, and the girls can discuss their..... "why did you buy a stupid car that never bloody works" campaign.

You never know they may come up with something original instead of the same sentances over and over again!!!!!!

We may even get a couple of cups of tea, if we shut up and take it off them!!!!

:rollin

grinder

ha ha ha ! - the better half is getting really sick now of rx7 !! - i think she hears about them too much  , and most of our conversations start off with "Today i was reading the mazda forum and ... "

and every time i mention them - it usually costs money :)

sounds good though  ! - let me know what happens - and i will try and bob up - at the end of the day i dont have a clue how an engine goes back in - but it would be fun trying !! ( thats said in a nice way and not the sledgehammer approach way :) )

That makes two of us (engine knowlege that is).

As you may have read, I had no idea how to get it out, but somehow I did it.

I would like to have gone to the warrington meet before it went pop, but by the time I got round to knowing roughly where it was held, it was too late!:reallymad

grinder

well i managed to change the oil on mine over the weekend so thats a start !

at the end of they day - if you got it out - it should go back in ! ( ha ha ha in theory )

but i suppose aslong as you take it one step at a time - then it should be ok !

one of the best/local people to speak to is GRIZZLY , he is a whizz with RX7 and his knowledge is superb ( well in my eyes ) - so maybe a chat with him to get the ball rolling is in order - and he may know to pitfalls to avoid

I see he is fairly local too then?

Does he go to Warrington? Have you met him before?

Apart from the numerous vehicles outside Pip\'s, I\'ve never seen a TII on the road yet! And I\'m a lorry driver!!!!!!!
