hi chaps

already in the questions stage and not even bought a FD yet !! LOL

i might ( MIGHT ! ) be buying a UK FD , now i assume that these come with 2 cats - the car is a 92 i may add ( on a K plate )

now can you just decat the whole thing and then throw on an Apexi ECU ??

whats the MOT like when you decat it - or cant you ??

loads of FD owners decat theirs - but is it legally do-able on a UK FD ??

thanks guys ( i did a search but didnt come up with anything )

Stu

I\'d have to check the dates Stu but i\'m fairly sure pre 1994 its a basic emmisions check and you don\'t need a cat. Visual smoke check at low revs and 3% hydocarbons being turbocharged.

Its all about finding the right test center. It may become more of an issue as the mot system goes wired.

Just make sure you don\'t buy the downtube from american ebay, it doesn\'t allow for the steering and won\'t fit. The megan mid pipes do though and are very nice.

I know i said it had two cats on the uk car, not completely sure. May get flamed for it !

Yep, uk cars have 2 cats. A hks down pipe will get rid of the first and you should have no trouble passing any mot\'s with the other cat and the airpump. If you want to get rid of both then it really does come down to where you take it, both davegttph and myself used a local garage, and his airpump isnt connected and i have de-catted, soon to be removing the air pump and it never even went near the emission tester, think all he did was kick the tyres and try the lights :cool, this was down to the garage saying that they are classed as a decat car anyway, who am i to argue about it. ;)
So do it stu, buy it NOW :driving

I shall eventually get round to having the pre-cat replaced with a trust downpipe, and then getting it mapped to take advantage of this, my twin filters and PFC.  This is due in April so if you still need to know then i\'ll let you know how I get on! :D

If it\'s a 1992 car then you should have the non-cat test @ 3.5%.  The Jap car\'s are allowed to run full de-cat if they are pre August 1994, sorry i cant remember what it is for the UK car.  I find that bit strange but that\'s how it is.

Good luck with the sale of your FC if you do indeed sell but I think you should copy me and have the best of both!  :Giggle

if i keep the FC and buy and FD - that means i have 3 cars and a bike and the better half has a car - thats not £££££££££££ viable !! LOL
