Hello just a quickie.  Looking at a rex & noticed the interior passenger handle was missing.broken.  Is this a common fault cos of the trim quality & are they hard to get hold of to replace..... & expensive!?

Thanks

Gman

They always break, mazda replacements are expensive not many 2nd hand ones as they always break! quite easy to DIY fix.

Hi there,

yes this is a very very common problem (design fault really).

When I brought my RX7 the passenger handle was broken and I looked into getting a new one. I looked everywhere and couldn\'t find one but found out that if one came available you\'re looking around £150.

Someone told me to repair the one I have if possible and I took the door panel off and removed the handle and now it is as good new, possibly stronger than ever before.

I presume the handle part is still intact but it has come away from the top and bottom?

Yes that seems to be what has happened.  Actually the guy maybe interested in a px swap with my car +1.5k but I\'m not sure if I can raise the cash.  How does thjis look to you guys!?

The dials and guages have been changed due to a fuel guage fault (this was done by the garage that imported it and they also did a compression test and all showed fine!)
i might be able to find there number out for you if you wanted.

Its been recently serviced- and only run on super unleaded.

you can see from the photos its immaculte!

It starts easily looks amazing- here are the pics:

Looks very tidy in the pics.... the engine bay is spotless!!  Only probs are horrible tinted rear windscreen bubbling & peeling (can be removed right?) & the interior handle (but yes the part is still there).

If you remove the rear tint film, use a paint strupper gun to realy warm it (Hot to touch) or when you peel it off you\'ll take the heater elements with it!!!!
Compression tests don\'t always show faults with the engine!! best way so I\'m let to bilieve is to start it cold, take it for a spin to warm it up & check it\'s boosting correct, turn it off then leave it for 5 mins to get some heat build up, then try restarting, any problem starting then something is on the way out & you\'ll be looking towards a rebuild!!

As long as the car hasn\'t been driven hard on the super pluss you should be OK, but realy the minimum you should put in is 98 ron (Optimax) to be safe!!
also bare in mind that its rapidly aproaching the informus 60k mark!!! Rebuilt teritory!!!!
