Smoke coming through the bonnet vents after a thrash?

After a bit of a fast drive i pulled over after i smelt somthing hot and oily, there were some wisps of smoke coming out of the bonnet.  Would it vent unwards from the sump? i thought it would disapate(sp) under the car not go upwards.

Not unless it\'s hitting the hotside of the trubo, manifold, or exhaust system.
Lot\'s of oil leaks around the sump gets swept onto the exhaust system due to airflow underneath the car.

Check where your boost pipe goes into the top of the turbo... I had a dickie one and a little residual oil was leaking onto the housing and sending smoke signals.

Is that easy to find/get to?

I will have a look through my manual CD.

Could also be the pipes that drain the oil from the turbos, there is a little gasket in there.

My car had leaking valves on the oil injectors and the top of the housing would fill up with oil then run down onto the exhaust.

Is it obvious if these pipes are leaking? or are they normally a bit moist.

Didnt Miguel have a similar problem a few months back?

Gman you cant see the injectors leaking - you have to look with a torch and look at the top of the housings above the turbos.

To see if its the return pipes from the turbos, as GLen says, you will need to clean everything and then go for a short drive, and then get underneath, or even get underneath with it idling ( mind that exhaust! )

Better get my big torch out, just saw some Cillet Bang degreaser on the TV so may have to nip to Tescos also :rollin
