Quote from: Rivalrx;753450has there been any confirmation if this IS indeed a genuine RX-4?

I assume it\'s real...however just playing the devils advocate.

Mazda 929\'s (piston version) can easily be turned into a clone RX-4 with a rotary engine/box and a few badges. These cars are still cool, don\'t get me wrong...

818\'s (808\'s in southern hemi) can be turned into RX-3\'s and 616\'s to RX-2\'s the same way.

If I was to bid on it I would most definitely ask for a pic of the chassis number to ensure it\'s the real deal (even though these can be doctored too - unlikely though). The correct numbers to look for are mentioned in a previous post.

It just strikes me as odd that the seller hasn\'t posted a pic???

It looks like it was a red car originally (same colour as mine Mazda RH). I always get shifty with a re spray.

It\'s a cool car nonetheless.

If it\'s a converted car it\'s not worth as much in my opinion. But asking as the parts are all there to look like an rx4 then that\'s cool but if your totally not sure then email the guy.

Rivalrx

Still no mention if it\'s genuine....

I bet there will be a bidding flurry tomorrow afternoon...

How important is the id plate above the brake pedal in the engine bay?-aparently its missing!!

Not hugely, the main number is the one stamped on the body.

Ray

The guy has confirmed it is definitely a 12a RX-4, the chassis number starts LA22S.

Well done. Im sure you will enjoy having the car!

That\'s going be a crazy trip up there! Where are you driving from?

I think steve may be a little gutted.

Glad it stayed in the club, i never even bid for it as it was £650 for my cheap transport driver to pick it up.
It would be more in the region of £1000 from where you are
