Ok need a bit of advice, i think my car has lost all its coolant, cant tell now as its dark. But litterally coming back to my house and 30 secs away low coolant buzzer came on ( i think its that) i switched the car off took the key out and it still stayed on! i am gonna have to leave it until i get some light. I am worried that its fried the lump but at the same time the apexi and defi gauge never showed a rise in temp?!

Any advice would be good

Cheers

If the water temp was the same then you might not have damaged too much, if the coolant has all gone there is either a leak somewhere, or the rad might have a leak. If those are fine theres the horrible thought it might be the seals which will mean a rebuild sadly.

Have a check through the other stuff first and if all is well try to start the car and let is idle and see how it feels, if its deffo losing coolant then book it in for a professional opinion.

Trouble is its been wet today so i cant tell...well i checked the level and its on low :( but temps never shot up and it must of ran for 5 mins all in when it went off. Hoping i will be able to feel it up and see where its leaking! Rebuild is not on the cars yet lol

You\'ll fine its fine, sometime you get an air blockage or just slightly low on water, when first started, the water rises when engine started hence why the noise went off after a couple of mins, would only damage if gauges were moving quickly up, remove cap from engine and fill from there, not the plastic reservoir by lights or ast

This happened when it was running for awhile i.e been out in it for a few hours, even when i switched it off and just turned the ignition on it was still buzzing and bizzing when the key is out?!!? But like you say the temps never rose and infact they were on 80 degrees so not that toasty at all.

Like Gary says you mite have a air lock in the system, dont forget to burp it by squeezing the bottom radiator coolent line when your filling it back up with water.

Hi Gav,

As has been said, first check for water leaks, also you may already know this anyway but you only need to lose a small amount of water to get the buzzer going and when you top up only top up via the neck on the engine so you can just see water leaving the other water caps alone.

Also don\'t worry about air locks if it only needs a small amount of water as you only get airlocks sometimes if you have lost lots n lots of water.

Hope this helps.

Well its odd, where you fill it up coolant to the top near enough if i \'burp\' the bottom rad hose it nearly pours over the top, but if i check the coolant level its near the bottom on the left hand side bottle near the light?

Thats an overflow and causes this problem if been over filling from there

Forget the burping and totally totaly ignore the tank cap/dipstick on the inner wing, just top up via the cap on the engine just so you can see water down the neck when cold.

Dont worry about levels in the wing tank or the air seperator tank as the system will regulate itself when the engine getts hot.

How much water did it take and have you had any chance to check for leaks ?

Hi guys,

Right ok thats put my mind to rest about the over flow, i have checked it the water level is fine and no leaks i could see on the floor drove fine temps nice and low as normal 82-84 so why the buzzer went off i do not know?! When i started it again i could just hear it faintly, i wonder if there is another issue as the buzzer stayed on even with the engine off and no keys in.

What i did notice is the air temp sensor reading on the apexi commander does read at all just stays put and checking it there is no volt meter reading on it?! all seem to happen at the same time, i am confused now lol
