Was just wondering what issue\'s arise when you increase the boost pressure.  For example, if you upgrade to a bigger turbo AND you increase the boost from 0.8 bar to say 1.6 etc etc.

I know on boingers you can get forge pistons, sleeve the block and all that but what about a proper engine  :p

IThere are springs for all the apex seals so im thinking along these lines but what else?

Thanks, Ricco :)

I think fuelling is the big issue. Some say you need to dowel but there\'s plenty of rotary\'s in Aus running big power on stock undowelled engines.

Ah, I see (well sort of!)  Im just trying to get a good knowledge for the rebuild im going to try.  What I am going to do is put a much bigger turbo in and was just thinking of what pressures I can run with the stock seals and springs as most  people don\'t go above 1.2bar i\'ve noticed.

Im probably going to get the porting dvd when it comes out so hopefully all options will be covered there for me.  Is there any other options which are good to consider while the engine is in bits?

Ok, was chatting to the fella who is going to sell me a shiny new turbo for the FC and he\'s confused me slightly (not hard I know!)

Is there any reason why people don\'t generally run above 1.2bar? and can anyone tell me what the exhaust gass flow rate is? (I would imaging this is dependant on engine/exhaust mods so roughly 13b full decat and street port)

Thanks :)

as far as Im aware there are only stock springs as such, not uprated. I believe abel runs stock 2mm seals and springs on 2.4 bar of boost. More informed will correct me.

Generally over here most dont go over 1.2 as we are still mapping on race over that and its not practical to use that every day, and some feel over that figure water inj is needed.
1.2 is the magical figure that is easily obtainable with out too much fear of blowing up on min mods, anything over that figure needs careful modification.
Generally only guys going over that are experimenting or big tuners from OZ that have simply more yrs under there belt.

Abel runs Iannetti seals in his engines.
He tried some from Australia a while back but went back to the ceramics.

1.2 bar limit is generally because of the limits of the pump fuel,if you have a much higher octane fuel then you can raise the boost, but this fuel is expensive.
Water injection overcomes this with pump fuel to a certain extent,so with properly setup water injection you can run higher boost.
Stock seals are run by some over here, but others run allsorts of variations that we think are best.

Lovely, thats sorted it then! Thank you both for the reply\'s.   :wave

Very much going to be a road car so pump fuel in and possable water injection at a later stage :)

Warthog

I\'m running 1.4 bar on high boost with water injection 25% meth , uprated fuel pump etc fully mapped for shell 98 ron/ tesco 99 ron on stock twins. :cool
I\'M ALWAYS IN THE SH*T IT\'S JUST THE DEPTH THAT MAY VARY.
