Hey every one, I’ve decided to buy a rex after to be honest very little thinking, but I read up on the subject and still want one. I’ve been to look at quite a few different examples now (for a nosey I’m buying in June waiting for my insurance to run out). But every time I see one in the rain when the boot is opened a small water feature empties is self onto the back seat. I’ve seen one where the space saver was missing and the well was FULL of water. I was wondering is this a common fault or like the salesman said is it an optional extra??? :xconfused

I\'d say common since it happens on mine (the space saver pond, not the back seats). It\'s not that the boot leaks but when the boot is lifted it\'ll drip down a few inches near the hinges and off into the boot.  Not sure if theres anything you can do about it just er, dont open it in the wet, dont let it put you off any particular one.

happens to me aswell but then the rear seats are never used anyway

I was going to use the back seats to hold a few cd\'s but i suppose they can go in the glove box :)

Yeah it happens to me as well, think thats the reason I had to change the rear speakers too because water had seeped down and ruined the paper cones.

I am careful when opening the boot and usually put things on the back seat to avoid opening it.

With regards to water in the spare wheel well, I found that mine was leaking beneath the rear lights. With aftermarket rear bumpers, not all of the stock mounting points are used. Take the rear lights off, and have a look to see if there are bolts holding on the bumper. If you can see no bolts, its a fair bet that they\'ve forgotten to seal the holes underneath and you need to take the bumper off and seal the holes.

Its a right pain in the ass.
I try to never open it if its soaked, and as Im sure you will know that not very practacle but then nor is the size of the boot anyway.

Also if the weather seal is broken then the water can get in there - it pools in the plastic on the inside of the boot lid and when the boot is opened will pour out from one of the gas struts.

Mine leaked where the spoiler had been taken off for spray job, and the bolts had been pulled out! and the holes not sealed, sorted now!

Well I dont have any problem with mine, and it lives outside too :)

The worst one is driving in wet mornings with the window down and brake.turn and all the water off the roof falls on you.  But with the window up you cant see...
