Quote from: bin linerHere we go again another f@@kin economy thread.Aaaaaarghhh!!
Mate if it\'s bothering you enough to put a thread up about it then you\'re definitely complaining.

They all get 10mpg.Anyone getting 15 or 18 or 55 mpg is coasting it down big hills so here\'s a constructive post.Move to a hilly area with big f@@k off hills and coast the f@@ker down the hills and have your mates waiting at the bottom and then you and your mates can push it back up the hill.

Or sell it.
Or put up and shut up.
F@@kin 1/8th of a tank, have the fuel gauges even got 1/8th increment readings? wtf are you doing marking the f@@kin gauge with a pencil?

Get a life.

Hmm...considering I\'ve actually met you, and you seemed like an alright type of guy, I\'m a bit shocked by your less than helpful comments and bad attitude.

As I said in my original post I\'d only had my car a week and was just looking for some advice from people more knowledgable about these cars than I am, and as such I don\'t really feel I should be on the receiving end of comments like this.

And no I haven\'t marked my guages with a pencil, it was a guestimate. Idiot  :p

Bin Liner - you\'re talking out of your hat while wearing it on your backside.

I usually get between 230 and 280 miles from a tank and I don\'t \'coast down hills\'.  Most of these cars (with the mods Darran has) should get from between 14 and 20 mpg.

Darran - do what Mike said - monitor mpg over a tank of petrol or 3 and go from there.  The fuel gauge isn\'t massively accurate, the temp gauge is even worse, it\'ll read in the middle from 50C to 120C!!!

I\'ve just done a motorway (M25 clear(!), M3, M27, A31) run to Bournemouth and back, just finishing running-in rebuilt standard spec type R (so no more than 3000 rpm, ie 70ish mph). I did 260-odd miles on 51 litres, so that would roughly agree with Iain.

Doh! sorry and there was me thinking you were marking the gauge with a pencil.Whatever prompted me i\'ll never know, hehehe...
Sorry i can\'t be an alright type of guy all the time.I like to give each thing its due and really i just couldn\'t resist, another bloody fuel economy thread was just too much.

BTW thanks for the business hope you like the goods.
Definately want it mate but the dog has just died so will be getting the missus a new dog for christmas....
Sounds like a good deal but will have to ask the dragon first.....  :flamed  :spank

i get consistent 240 miles from a tank, driving a mix of granny (less than 3k) or like its stolen (i do one or t\'other)

To be honest, if you want to save fuel economy, you have two choices - get a PFC, tune it lean and monitor EGT\'s and knock CLOSELY and drive conservatively, or buy a diesel!

Seriously mate - thats it. There really arent any conclusively proven methods of increasing MPG.  I found the after driving my FD for 6 months and switching to a diesel for the DD over the winter the money saved in fuel has allowed me to buy a new engine (which will increase MPG due to higher compression), single turbo and new headlights.

re-doing your vac pipes, fuel lines, fuel filter and getting your injectors cleaned may have some effect, but having not done this myself i cant say how much.  I do know one guy however who overhauled his fuel system at 98k (injector clean, new FPR, new FPD, new fuel lines, chemical clean of fuel rails, and vac pipe job) and he said his mpg went from 18 to 22mpg.  But you never know how differently he drove it during the monitoring periods...

Martiny

I agree with Iain, I regularly get 18,19,20,21 mpg.

Trevrx

I always fill the tank to the brim so know exactly what mpg I\'m getting.

I used to get 17 - 17.5 mpg, then I fitted a mid pipe and now get 18 - 18.5.

Since u already have a midpipe this info is ofcourse no use to u at all  :D

If you\'re only doing 10 mile journeys, do u drive off straight away or let the engine warm up for a couple minutes first?  If the latter (which is pointless IMO), driving off straight away instead could save u a bit.

D3S

I have seen 10 mpg on hard sessions and 18 on a long drive with the odd mix of some boost.

One thing i don\'t care about is fuel economy as i don\'t really day to day just as a toy, its good for a few things, go fast, going sideways and recking that Ozone layer lol.

so i am in the i dont give a $hit what my mpg is club lol
